What's new

Received my first vintage (Red Tip) today

Bought it on eBay, the pictures were pretty bad so I didn't know what to expect. The price was right though, only $20 shipped. Could use a little polish, but not bad overall.

Here are the pictures before I cleaned it.

Yes, i would say you made a great score, it looks near mint. Most of the ones I see have a lot of paint loss on the TTO knob. And for $20 shipped, excellent!!!

Sweet, I too have a very nice one, and watch out that is one aggressive DE, tore me up first time out of the gate.
Nice score and happy shaving!!

One of my favorites. The Redtip, at least to me, is outstanding. Once you get used to it, you'll probably love it. It's a perfectly weighted, perfectly balanced razor IMHO. Nice score!

The paint looks like its in great condition! I'm a big fan of my red tip as well.

I don't see the "plus" marks on the bottom of that baseplate, what's the date code? A-2, if I'm reading it right? IIRC, they only started stamping the baseplates beginning with the "C" years, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Yes it is an A2, and there are no "plus" marks on it. I'm not sure when they started putting them on there. I honestly didn't even notice them missing until you pointed it out.

I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out. It didn't cut up my face this morning, but I was slow and cautious.
