Ready for winter: Moss large scuttle

I read and re-read every scuttle post on B&B, and ultimately decided that the Bonnyman Moss (large) scuttle was for me. The aesthetics winner is clearly the G5--I came so close to ordering one many times, and I'd still love to give it a try--but I think its lack of heat retention would ultimately be frustrating. Functionality probably goes to the DB 1.5, but it looks too clunky for my bathroom. The German un-pronounceable is cool enough to be worth the chunkiness, but too darned expensive. And I just can't like the Beckers yet. The downside to the Moss is that, from what other guys wrote, the shipping adds a lot to the otherwise fairly reasonable price. So I bid my time eyeing the B/S/T forum, and my patience paid off. Thanks again, B&B!

And it came today! I knew from the measurements, 83-85mm bowl width, that it would just barely be big enough to bowl lather, but I liked how compact the scuttle is and that I could also use it just as a 'brush scuttle.' It's certainly not roomy for bowl lathering, but it will work with at least a couple of my brushes. The medium EJ Silvertip works great by nature of its small handle (see my post in the Brush Chronicles), and my bigger Super because of its tall 55mm loft. The in-between brushes are the ones that will ding the sides too much, so I'll reserve them for face-lathering this winter.

Haven't had a shave with it yet, just some test lathers with different brushes. A performace review would be pre-mature. Although the scuttle stayed very toasty for a very long time, it's still warm here. The real test will come when it gets cold, and I need warm lather on a chilly morning.

thanks for the excellent review.
i think the moss scuttle will be better for me as well.
the DB seems too big.
thanks again!
