Re Plating of Slim Adjust!

Hey there Guys!

i have 3 slim adjustable razors, the past few days i have been getting this idea (crazy) i would like to re plate one of them 2 are used once and one still brand new in box. I wan to take it and make the handle and head a gun metal color , then the bottom wheel where you turn the heads open to insert the blade i would want to make that black, then the numbers i would like to have that in red or yellow.
Any suggestions on my crazy idea?

Regards

Willy

It's your razor do with it as you wish, it's not a rare classic car.
There's a lot of different colored coatings used on firearms, that would be the place to look.
Don't let the razor Nazis dissuade you.

Okay, you can do it a couple of ways. You can have the whole piece plated in the gun metal color. For the numbers, you can have them "antiqued" where this is a special kind of paint, jewelers use this kind of thing sometimes for restoration work. For the colors you can have any kind of color application "anodized" instead of plated, this is a colorization process, think of painting with metal. When I was overseas, we were not allowed to have tattoos because of being "marked" by the wrong campers, so in our unit we had rings made instead. They were sterling silver with brass overlay and the antiqued paint was applied inside the outline of an engraved cross of st. lorraine, the patron saint of foreign soldiers. So the point is, you can combine metals with a combination of plating, anodizing, and antiqued paint, you have to find someone who makes custom jewelry to do this, and a plater, and you need to loosen up your wallet, the cheaper way is to find something more benign to drink and have a good shave, good luck, bc

I think replating a razor in multiple colors is a very interesting idea, Willy. But then, you have to remember, I already own a razor that was replated in multiple colors that I bought here:

Sounds like it is possible to do what you are wanting to do, it's just a matter of finding someone who is willing to do it, and being prepared to pay the price. Good luck!

As with the Fatboy, a Slim can be taken apart.
Separate pieces are easy to plate however you see fit.
I would contact someone with experience taking them apart to have them do it, then find reputable platers/powdercoaters to color it, then have them ship it back to the disassembler to re- assemble and ship back to you.
