RazoRock Shave Gel

Any opinions on these? I'm looking for something to allow me to do a quick neck shave when I'm sporting my beard. While I love making a nice lather, I just don't see the need if I'm only going to be shaving the lower half of my neck. I have rather sensitive skin and the neck has always been my "white whale" of DE shaving, so I'm looking for something that will not only allow me to be quick, but will be protective as well.

I love the stuff! I mostly use it as a preshave, but on those mornings that I'm rushed, I will shave directly with it. It tokk a while to get used to not having the normal foamy face, but I was amazed at how well it worked. Now, when I'm in a hurry, I don't hesitate to rub it in, shave, and go. Try it and see for yourself. Of course YMMV, but I swear by it.

Thanks. I went ahead and purchased a bottle of RR's 888. What scent do you have/prefer?

I have the original, and love the scent. It pairs nicely with my sandalwood soap. I plan on trying the lavender soon. Scents are vrry personal, though, so YMMV.

I got some in a Razorock PIF

I think it's the original.

Just opened it up and took a whiff of the scent. I really like it. I'm more of a soap/cream guy, but this may be just what I need. For those mornings before work. When I'm short on time and need a quick shave.

Got my RR 888 shave gel the other day and gave it a go last night. I wish I had gone with Lime, as the scent wasn't very similar to the 888 aftershave wax that I really like, but I just want to make sure that my next statement is not taken as hyperbolic. RazoRock shave gel may be the best shaving product I have purchased to date. I am only a few months into this whole wet-shaving scene, so I'm still honing my skills and will frequently end up with pretty good shaves that either have a couple nicks and usually always a slight bit of irritation on my neck. I usually always shave at night and will wake up feeling a slight bit of growth.

For last night's shave I took a hot shower, rubbed on my new RR shave gel, and whipped up a fairly unsatisfying bowl of lather (I had a small amount left of my Trumpers Lime Cream sample that I wanted to finish off). Even with the subpar lather I had I set off to tackle my 3 days worth of growth. First pass was effortless. I didn't even bother with any more lather for my 2nd pass, I just applied another round of RR gel. Another effortless pass. After my 2nd pass (which is where I usually call it quits), I decided to really see how this new wonder-gel performed, so I rinsed my face and without applying anything else decided to go for a 3rd pass. It was just as effortless and efficient as if I had applied a whole new coat of the gel. Smoothest shave I think I've had, and not a single drop of blood was sacrificied.

I know I've had those occasional "fluke" BBS shaves that seem to come out of nowhere that for some reason I can't duplicate on my next shave, so I'm excited to see how this performs on shaves #2 and #3.

I'm sure a lot of gents here don't need something like RR shave gel, but for anyone just getting into wetshaving, or anyone who wants something to really speed up their shaves when they're in a pinch, I would highly recommend this.

I bought a few bottles of this stuff about 10 years ago, which have been under my bathroom sink since, so I tried using it recently. I have two bottles of the Lime and one of the King Louis Lavender scents. I checked Italian Barber's website today and it does not look like they are selling it anymore. I vaguely recall trying it out when I first bought it, and that the results were just so-so. It is much slicker than any shave cream or soap, but with very little cushion. This time around, I have found that it works best with a fresh blade in the shaver (preferably a very sharp brand such as Feather or Gillette GSB). The gel has has very good residual slickness, so I find that I only need to apply it once and basically, I can buff my way to a BBS. I guess I still prefer my routine face lathering with a brush, but I want to use this stuff up, so my new routine will be to use the RR Shave Gel for the first shave every time I put in a new blade. At that rate, what I have should last at least until the end of the year. I have to say, it is wonderful stuff if you can figure out how to take advantage of the slickness.
