RazoRock Scents

Subjective question: what is the best scent amongst the razorock artisan series?

Looking for something other than almond/cella.

Of the three I tried I like all of them. In order of current preference:

Zi Peppino
Chianti Lavender
Moroccan Secret

The XX is the best new formula if you want an incredible shave. The KOC line is lightly scented and outstanding. Guys I respect like the Karite line also. The King Louis lavender is also exceptional. The Nono sandalwood is a great scent but the lather is not like the above soaps.

The best scents are the ones you like the best. I like many floral and citrus scents, while others don't. My personal favorites, are:

1. King Louis Lavender--it's more like a Bavarian lavender, not a sweet lavender.
2. Caprician Lemon--a nice fresh lemon, not like a chemical, floor cleaner scent that so many lemon scented soaps have.
3. RazoRock XX--a nice fragrance, although a little light, but it's made up for by an incredible lather. Since XXX is no longer available, XX is considered to be the top producer of a rich, slick lather in the RR lineup.

You can't go wrong with any of the RazoRock Linea Officina Artingiana Shaving Soaps.

How does the sandalwood (third eye) perform and smell? Does it smell more like TOBS sandalwood or proraso red?

I bought the coconut one and it didn't really smell like much. I thought the soap was just ok and only used it a couple times. Am I missing out on something here by not trying the others?

i have the coconut, and I like the scent, though it is subtle. I wasn't crazy about the performance at first, either, but I've since figured out how to lather it, and it's right up there with Tabac in terms of lather quality. Really great stuff.

I love the Lime Oil from the King of the Castle Series. The Lime scent is mild, subtle and very natural. Performance is outstanding.

It's scent is good, clean and light hard to explain, It is cut as a square from a block and placed in a round tub, For a shea butter soap I would look at Strop Shoppe special edition soaps with tallow, much better buy and better lather. I have to say the artisian soaps for me lather on the airy side. The XX and KOC line are much more dense and luxurious. The RR line only gets better so the newer soaps are much improved. Evil Eye and King Louis on to the Karite, XX and KOC formulas are so good the older stuff should be passed up in my opinion.

King of the Castle Lime is so good, IMO, that I used that tub every day from the time it arrived at my house until it was gone. It's a natural lime scent and provides a fantastic shave. The matching AS balm is excellent, but if too much is used at once, it can feel a bit oily. A dab will do you.

King Louis Lavender is a nice subtle lavender scent and also provides an excellent shave (FYI-contains lanolin).

Lastly, XX is a light and fresh scent. Sort of aquatic to my nose. The official (and literary) description of the scent is impressive. I began this tub of soap a few days ago and have really enjoyed the shaves.

Eucalyptus 888 has a pleasant refreshing scent. In addition, it is one of the best performing soaps I've tried. I think it's the shea butter, but, sshhh, you didn't hear it here.

Can anybody shed some light on how the scent of Mughetto di Bologna compares to MW or Mike's Lily of the Valley?

It's Lilly of the Valley. Outstanding.

Bingo. It's one of my favorite products.

I have a small bone to pick with razorock regarding their new hard soaps. Even though the Nonno Michelini is labeled as INTENSE SANDALWOOD, the scent is still fairly mild, as are all of their soaps and creams. I was hoping for something a bit stronger. It's a great product, and I wouuld have no complaint whatsoever were it not labeled thusly. It's also not what I would call a hard soap. Harder than some of their other products, perhaps, but if you're looking for something resembling a puck of AoS, guess again. It's more like a harder croap. This, too, would not be a problem if they didn't specifically label it as a hard soap.

Over all, what a fantastic product line.
