Razorock or Cella?

I have a couple of hard soaps, as well as some creams, but no soft soaps. It seems to me like these two are really popular. Which one should I get? Also, are there any other soft soaps worth considering?

Both are fantastic and worth trying. Cella is fantastic and a classic (I used to not like it until I got the lather right), Razorock has awesome soaps for both their regular soft soaps and their tallow based ones.

So I'm guessing that's why some of the razorock soaps cost a little more than the other ones. Does the tallow really make a difference? I don't have any tallow based soaps.

The Queen Charlotte Soaps (Creams) are outstanding. Their "creams" have the consistency of the Italian soft soaps and are also tallow based. I have both tallow & vegetable soaps from different makers and both can be great (or not). At QCS you can buy a few small sample sizes which gives you the opportunity to try several scents at a reasonable price.

Get the RazoRock. Any of the ones in the big white plastic tubs are good, just pick which scent sounds good to you.

Cella is popular too. My personal opinion, however, is that it smells horrendous from all the artificial benzaldehyde they use to scent it. YMMV and all that

I was mainly talking about their cheapest line with the black tubs. Does the tallow really make a difference? Like I said, I've never owned a soap with tallow in it.

I personally don't think the tallow makes any difference, but I think the ones in the white tubs are better performers. Maybe because of the tallow, but its the final product not an individual ingredient that counts. For the price difference, I think the White tub is definitely worth getting instead, but I don't know your budget, etc

Youll hear alot about tallow, how it's superior to all other soaps, etc. to me I haven't found tallow makes a difference. There are some bad vegetable soaps out there, yes, but some very good ones.

With your question, I'd get the RR first. The black tub RR products are no longer being actively made so might as well try it while you still can. Cells you can always try later.

I think there are two RR "white tub" products now. The Artisan line, which comes in a large plastic tub for easy loading, and the new La Famiglia line which comes in a white Cella container and is rebranded TFS. IMHO the Artisan is better.

Good call. I was referring to the tall, cylindrical shaped ones. The tubs are not only sturdy, but large enough to load the brush without getting lather everywhere

I've come to the firm conclusion that, no, it does not make any difference. There are bad tallow soaps and bad veggie soaps. There are outstanding tallow soaps, and there are outstanding veggie soaps. At the top of the effectiveness scale it makes no difference. YMMV, but if a recent post on this topic is any indication ... it won't.

This is all opinion, but Marco is known to be a huge Cella fan. His opinion is the RazoRock Artisan line is a little better than the XXX line with any scents in that packaging. I have not tried them so I don't know, but I sure respect his opinion. He also thinks the new La Famiglia line (by TFS) is even better than the Artisan line. Artisan is mostly tallow, La Famiglia is veggie.

Given the shipping cost on one tub of inexpensive soap, I'd say it makes more sense to try them all. Or at least a couple, and make Cella one of them. My favorite Artisan, which isn't worth much, is the Mughetto di Bologna, and my favorite La Famiglia is the Don Marco. I am anxiously awaiting my first good Cella sample with scent. I had a slice that had all the scent gone, but it was an excellent performer.

My friend reported exactly what I think! That said I'd get a bowl of RazoRock La Famiglia, a bowl of the Artisan and a bowl of Cella.

P.S. John I shipped you 1/2 kilo brick of Cella, not a sample!
