A parker 99r would be a decent choice. Not overly aggressive and heavy and tough enough. Dropped mine few times to no ill effect. Cheap too and easily found.

For modern the parker 87R would be my preference, for vintage, really any of the super speeds are a win. I'm personally partial to the 40's style super speeds, but the mid range flare tip is a real beauty too. None are overly aggressive, IMO just the perfect aggression and efficiency.
Agree that a Krona would be a great starter.
