What's new

Razor identification

I was at a local antique mall today and saw what appeared to be a Gillette new. Three piece, brass head, open comb with the groove through the middle of the plate. It was in good shape, just needed a cleaning, so I gave them the $5 they were asking and took it home.

This is thing has a tapered black fluted plastic handle. I can't find pics of one like it anywhere. Did they make a new razor with a plastic handle, or did someone lose the original handle and swap in a plastic version?

This is is the handle:

That looks like the handle from a black plastic handle Tech.

It may be a mismatch. I've never seen a New with that black handle, but anything is possible.

See more here.

That appears to be a Tech head in the picture as well. I love me a good Tech especially the ones with the triangular slot.

Bill,

Yes, the pic is a Tech. I just grabbed it from the internet to illustrate the handle that came with mine. It's not a pic of the razor I bought. I will try to get some pics up in a little bit.

Thanks for for the help, guys.

Sorry about that. Now I see it. A Long Comb New sure enough with what appears to be a plastic Tech handle. I just finished my morning shave with a LC New, Personna Lab combination. BBS in 2 passes. Great razor! Let us know how it does for you with that light weight handle.
