My grandmother just gave me this razor. Nothing stamped on top, on underside it says REG US, PAT OFF, Gillette, Made in USA. It is a 3 piece and is down to the brass totally.

My grandmother just gave me this razor. Nothing stamped on top, on underside it says REG US, PAT OFF, Gillette, Made in USA. It is a 3 piece and is down to the brass totally.
It is a fat handle Gillette Tech from the early 1940's based upon the triangular slot which I can see in the guard bar. It was originally plated with a very thin layer of gold which was probably worn away by your grandfather's use.
I just picked one of these up today at an antique store, all the gold is still on it, looks very nice. Nice to know the date period.
Yours could be from a later period into the 1950's. Does it have a date code on the underside of the guard plate? If not, are the two slots on either side of the guard plate somewhat triangular shaped or straight?
