Razor Burn

I normally do not get razor burn at all, but the past few shaves have left my face on fire. I normally get exactly what I want with only three sometimes four passes so I know I am not overdoing it. Anyone have a few good anti-burn remedies?

An aftershave balm is your best best. BTW, has anything changed with you shaving regimen? I find it odd that you are suddenly getting razor burn given that you say that you normally aren't prone to it. If nothing has changed, just be mindful of your shave angle and pressure. Sometimes, you just lapse or get complacement about shaving routines.

Witch hazel is great for a burn. Splash it on, then let it dry on your face. A quick rinse then some AS balm. Can you give your face an extra day of healing before your next shave?

Yeah I should check to make sure I haven't become more aggressive. I thought maybe it was due to the cooler weather and outrageous winds where I live drying out my face. Does anyone also have changes to routine in the cold weather.

Oh yes I could take a day off in-between, but who wants to!? :001_smile

My remedy for razor burn:

I wash off my face with a wash cloth dipped in warm water to get rid of all of the remaining lather. Next, I soak a wash cloth in cold water and put in on my face for about 30 seconds. Next I apply a splash of WH. I use Thayer’s Rose Petal WH. It is alcohol free and does not sting when it goes on but provides soothing relief to my skin. I then use a skin moisturizer to provide relief. I like GFT’s skin food products, Nivea after shave balm for sensitive skin, and also a moisturizer I borrow from my wife.

Don't use anything with alcohol on irritated skin. It will cause inflammation.

I rarely get razor burn but when I do I sometimes apply a small amount of Fougera Vitamin A Vitamin D ointment. A 3oz tube costs $3. It's clear, has no odor and applies easily.

There's another company that makes a product called A&D ointment but it's not the same. It's heavier, tan in color and has a fishy smell.

We used the A&D ointment for our boys when they were infants and had diaper rash!

Try some Neutrogena Body Lotion on your face as after shave balm.

It worked wonders for me .
