Razor Blades and More

Got my order three days after placing. Put together a home-brewed sampler of Gillette's and Personna's more popular blades. I will start with them tomorrow. Still looking for that 'perfect' blade for me. Hopefully, it's one of the four I bought, or one of the two samples RBAM threw in for free. Am concentrating on platinum now.

My razor blades and more order of India Green (7 o'clock green blades made in India) and Kai disposable straight blades are at the post office waiting for me. Even though the PO is closed today the tracking # shows them as in my PO box so off I go in a little while for my daily walk before it gets too hot.

Too bad I already shaved as I am looking forward to using both the India DE and Kai SE blades.

And he is very generous with the freebies. I usually end up with 20-30 blades thrown in, it's how I first tried Lords and Polsivers.
Good guy.

Lab Blue this morning. Huh, sounds like a dog breed. DFS, and that is likely due to my apprentice technique. I often find the second day smoother than the first, either from learning the blade, or perhaps it being ever so slightly duller and more forgiving. This will be a slow process for me, as I have one razor, a EJ DE89 with a Weber bulldog handle added recently. Never thought shaving would be so interesting and fun. Who knew?

You do both straight and DE? Straights scare me, ever since I sliced my finger on my grandfather's when I was very young. I may one day treat myself to a barber's straight shave, though. Seems like something everyone should have at least once. Enjoy!

I started out with a straight razor. Ive been at this almost two months now and I have had a straight shave about 5 times. I just like DE shaving way too much. Good luck on your blade search, still trying to find the perfect one for me too.

Yes let us know. For me the same razor you have paired with Lab blue is great. Be interested to know what soap you used.

Irritation each time, including the first. I chalked that up to my heavy hand, but it was too consistent, even with different soaps.

Used the Gillette Silver Blue for 4 days and was well pleased with it. Today I used a Personna Red and it was great. The soaps I've used have been a Mike's Natural O/CW/BP, but I switched to MB Lime Cilantro during the Personna Lab Blue bloodletting, and have stuck with it.

Three shaves with Personna Reds, which finish second to Gillette Silver Blues. In order, my favorites From this order are:

1. Gillette Silver Blue
2. Personna Red
3. 7 O'Clock
4. Personna Lab Blue

Next, I'll compare GSB to Astra, with which I've had mixed results, but generally have been good. Somewhere in my shave kit is the blade for me. As I know my technique is improving, it's entirely possible I used it early on and mistakenly blamed the blade.

Uh oh, I have ten blade types, which exactly matches the number of soaps I've kept. SSAD & RBAD!? This can't be good.
