Razor Blade Test

Day 57 (3 passes)
Blade: AccuTec Premium Coated
Razor: 1912 GEM
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: RazorRock XXX
Aftershave: Fine Italian Citrus
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Plisson type knot

About as close as you can get to a straight razor shave. Incredibly smooth and forgiving. I don't think you can get this quality of shave with a DE razor, at least none of the 25 blades I've tested have even come close. Only my straight razors are closer and as comfortable. The 1912 GEM is definitely more aggressive and provides more audible feedback vs the Featherweight.

Rest Day

Blade: AccuTec Premium Coated SE (Day 2)
Razor: GEM Featherweight
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Clubguy
Aftershave: Fine Italian Citrus
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Fan

Just did two very light passes to give my face a rest day. Shave is still pretty darn close and equal to most DE 3 passes. The Featherweight is such a mild and efficient razor. So smooth with the Accutec blade.

Day 59 -- Rest Day

IMG_2004.jpeg

Just did two very light passes to give my face a day to rest. This is a VERY SMOOTH and SHARP blade. Maybe the smoothest I've shaved with. Will put it through 3 good passes tomorrow.

Blade: Schick B-20
Razor: Schick G1 Injector
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Old Salty
Aftershave: Fine Italian Citrus and Citrus Musk layered
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Plisson type knot

Day 60 (3 passes)

Blade: Schick Proline B-20 (2)
Razor: Schick G1 Injector
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Old Salty
Aftershave: Fine Italian Citrus and Clubman layered
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Fan

Shave closeness easy areas: 5.0
Shave closeness challenging areas: 4.5
Shaving smoothness: 5.0
Aftershave Burn: 5.0
Irritation: 5.0

Average score: 4.9

Comments: Second day on this blade. Even with 3 passes and not 100% technique, as I'm still getting used to the razor geometry, this blade was silky smooth and irritation free. With a bit of technique refinement I think I can make this setup rival a straight razor.

Day 61 (Rest Day 1 pass)

Blade: AccuTec SE (3)
Razor: GEM Featherweight
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: Cella Red
Aftershave: Floid and Citrus Musk layered
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Astraeus

Comments: Completely irritation free one pass shave. This gets me to the same shave as most DE blades with multiple passes.

Day 62 (Rest Day -- 2 pass)

Blade: Schick Chick
Razor: 1958 -1961 Schick J1
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: Cella Red
Aftershave: Fine Barber Blue and Citrus Musk layered
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Plisson type knot

Comments: This is a very mild and very smooth razor. Did two very light and quick passes due to a time constaint, and had a great shave, comparable to a very good DE razor/blade, and irritation free. I think this razor with the Proline B-20 blade will be sublime.

Day 64 (2 passes XTG/ATG)

Blade: AccuTec Pro SE (4)
Razor: 1940's Gen 1 Micromatic Clog Pruf
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Dapper Doc
Aftershave: Clubman and Lime Sec layered

Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Plisson type knot

Shave closeness easy areas: 5.0
Shave closeness challenging areas: 4.5
Shaving smoothness: 5.0
Aftershave Burn: 4.75
Irritation: 5.0

Average score: 4.85

Comments: Great smooth and close shave with the Clog Pruf. First time shaving with it so still getting used to the angles. In terms of aggressiveness it is between the GEM 1912 and Featherweight. I suspect shaves will improve in the challenging areas as I get used to it.

Polsilver was always one of my favorite blades. Since they have been discontinued I am always a little skeptical about their genuineness. There have been many reports of fake ones. Whether that is true or not is kind of anybodies guess, so take that with a grain of salt.

Day 66 (single pass rest day)

Blade: AccuTec Pro Premium 7063 on one side -- AccuForge 7020 on the other
Razor: GEM 1912
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Clubguy
Aftershave: Floid and Citrus Musk layered
Scuttle: Doug Smith
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Plisson type knot

Comments: Did a comparison. Just a single pass, but the blades felt very similar. Need more passes to really compare.
