So, I'm the type of person who enjoys little surprises. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who will get a bunch of different types of blades "sample packs" and then mix them all up and put them in a pile. The next day, I just grab whatever blade is on top and shave with that. Eventually I'll settle on one or two blades, but for now when I'm trying a whole bunch, I like the surprise every day of a new blade.

Sounds like as good a way as any. Just be sure to keep a record of each brand so that you'll find your best one(s).
I use a different razor and different brand of blade every day. It is not uncommon for me to have between 8 and 10 different blades unwrapped at any given time.
I have 6 blade wrappers on my sink counter marked from 1 through 6 for the number of shaves on the blade sitting on each paper.
This is the only way I can keep track of how many shaves are on that many open blades. I pick one up, shave with it, then when I am done with my shave I move it down to the next numbered paper.

After you've been on B&B awhile, you start to do that with straight razors.
