What's new

Rasupur wunder

I just bought the Ebony TI below on the BST from ameetmedi who only used it a few times.

It's from Martin's Rasupur site. The first shave was BBS with just a normal stropping. The razor is in perfect form with no imperfections. I have over twenty other straights and eight TIs. This is the first razor I did not have to rehone to get a great shave. Martin definitely knows how to check and prepare his razors. TI's have become my favorite razor and now I think any future blade would have to come from Martin's shop.

Martin's definitely a pro.. and a very nice man, to boot. I've purchased two 1/4 grind Le Grelots from him, and a couple of other things.

Martin is a great guy, I have been emailing with him back and forth, and will place an order for another TI (very similar to yours, in fact) soon!

You lucky dog! Good going, glad to hear that you like the shave. I am really interested in the new forgings myself.

Take Care,
Richard

Hi,
I also purchased a new TI, but a different model and from a different vendor.Supposedly, TI has a new fangled sharpening machine and or procedure.
Mine was shave ready after a light stropping too. When I touched my up though, I found out that the bevel on one side was slightly uneven. It didn't take much to fix it but there you are. These companies simply cannot afford to have someone take the time to hand hone every razor like they did in the very old days. I know because I've purchased some NOS razors that had absolutely perfectly flat bevels and very keen edges on them.

Best,
Red

I believe Martin ensures any razor he sells is shave ready. Presumably that includes honing them. Although many vendors promise shave ready razors, he is the one that consistently delivers shave ready razors.

On his website, he guarantees that each razor is inspected and hand honed by him before shipping. It's too bad that not the norm among web vendors since the web vendor has leverage with the maker that an individual purchaser does not on receipt of a defective razor. It's really foolish to buy from a vendor who is sending you an uninspected razor who also refuses as a matter of policy to take back any problem razor.
