What's new

RAD just got me again!

I know how hard RAD can bite. I went almost 4 months with nothing other than my super adjustable. Then I got this wild hare that I wanted another adjustable. Sorry (not) to say that I now have 7 adjustables among some other techs and TTO's. Still dont have the toggle though.

Tell me about it. :D. When I first got into DE shaving I hit a couple of lots on the bay and didn't look back. I now have about 35 (maybe more  ) vintage razors, 9 of which are adjustables. I just couldn't pass this one up. I'm just glad I'm saving so much money since I switched from carts. ;)

I love this razor. So far it is my favorite and the one I use most often.
Awesome. I've read great things about them.

You literally just purchased one of the best shaving razors on the planet. I've heard many people really like the common bar handle like the one on your razor. The one I bought had the thin handle, and it was REALLY thin and light. The first handle I used with it was one of the white Muhle handles. Nice improvement. Then I tried it with my solid brass 4" Cadet handle. Holy cow, that put it in a whole different league.

Shave with it like it is first. Then try it with a very heavy aftermarket handle. You may never shave with anything else.

Rest in Peace
Mike; I think you did extremely well. I have exactly the same and I paid more for it.:crying: Congratulations! Regards, Mike

OK, so I might be slightly biased, but I agree that you landed a keeper. Shave with it. Try a heavier handle. It's all good. No matter what the question, my answer is usually: the Gillette NEW. Maybe you too will decide to be a GNU ...

GNU...I like that. The heavy handle suggestion is very interesting, too. What are some good options for after-market handles?

Also, what would be a good approach to cleaning this one? It's in fantastic condition but has a bit of gunk built up. I just don't want to damage the finish.

The gold wash on these razors is very thin. I would recommend a soft tooth brush, mild dish soap, and warm water.

As for handles, I use Tradere and iKon bulldog handles. I prefer the iKon because it is shorter, but both of them are wonderfully heavy.
