Ive grown to really love my R41. It really is a wonderful safety razor, now that I've gotten comfortable with it.
But I know others who like aggressive DE razors really love slants, too. I've got it on good word that an R41 is actually more aggressive than a 39C, so I feel like I could use a Slant without too much difficulty.
Part of the appeal to me about a Slant is blade life. I think even the more ardent R41 fans will admit that it really challenges the blades you use. Since I use a very shallow angle, blade life for me is only about 3 shaves with an Astra SP-- two with a Feather.
The slant approach makes sense to me, as slicing like a scythe is always more effective than chopping.
I'd like to hear from those of you who have both a slant and an R41-- which do you prefer and why?
Thanks.
JH
