As posted elsewhere, today I used my AoS Lavendar AS Balm for the first time since I really began experimenting with other balms and splashes. After experiencing some alternatives I have to say that, in my opinion, it really is a great product! Here is my short review of the product (of course ymmv, imho and all that other good stuff).
Scent- It has strong but pleasant and manly scent that is comprised predominantly of lavender and jojoba. The scent does linger for around an hour but seems to fade quickly after that.
Feel- Although menthol is not listed in the ingredients, I certainly feel a mild cooling sensation with this product. I am not a chemist and do not know what ingredient causes this sensation but it is pleasant and does not interfere with the scent of the AS. The AS is extremely soothing to shaving irritation. It is alcohol free so there is no burn but the shea butter and oils immediately calm down any aggravated facial areas. The same ingredients do lead to a slight greasy feel on the face but the product seems to be absorbed rather quickly (a shame in my opinion as the scent is the main selling point in my book).
Effects- The AS does provide long term reduction of irritation and moisturizes fairly well. At the end of the day skin still feels hydrated and soothed and only a little bit oily.
Overall, I love this ASB and REALLY LOVE the scent. I would have never equated lavender with the manliest of manly rituals but AoS products have change that opinion. I must say, it was a blessing that they were out of sandalwood when I bought this stuff!
