Question regarding cleaning swarf from pasted strop.

Is swarf buildup on a leather strop something that should be cleaned off, and if so, what is the best method? I have a Rolls Razor that was unused when I got it. The leather strop is charged with ferox, similar to the paste these originally came with. I originally posted in the SE sub forum, but did not get any response, so I thought I would try here. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I imagine if the accumulation is heavy it would not be good.
Seeing as the leather on the Rolls is fairly stiff I would use some alcohol in the 70% range so it doesn't flash off too fast and use the back of a pair of shears to scrape it off.
Actually I would try the shears first to get the top off then try some alcohol.
Alcohol will not harm the leather.
Perhaps even a soft scrub material and some alcohol combined.
Make sure the back of the shears are not gouged. They must be smooth with a hard edge.

Thank you for the advice. Sounds like a good idea. I will give it a try.
