I have a TI marked #68 on the tang. I have seen some marked with #69. Does anyone know the significance of that number? Could it be year of manufacture?

This is a good question as I have a 69 and I don't know the date of mine, so we are in the same boat but I would guess its blade pattern as mine is a Thiers Issard 1196 69 EVIDE SONNANT

I apologize for an error here. I just checked and mine is a 69 and not a 68. It has the same markings on both sides of the tang as the previous post.

In the ‘olden days’ of Theirs, makers were assigned a number. 69 was Thiers-Issard’s maker number.
