I've been using a Muhle R89 Old as my daily shaver for about a month now and I love the aggressiveness. The problem is that I have been using the inferior "vertical" Derby blades, they do the job but I know I could do much better in terms of smoothness. So what blades do you guys recommend using with this beast? There is a good chance that I might be going to China next month so I wanted load up on blades but probably won't have time to do a sample pack. My apologies if this has been covered.

Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge, yellows. Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum, black. Iridium Super Stainless, Astra Platinum, Blue Birds.
I've found that this razor turns an average blade i.e. Merkur,Dorco 300 etc,into a good blade.
,but I generally use Gillette Green Russians in mine. It is the only D/E in my current rotation that gives my Gem's a run for their money.

For me the old R89 loaded with a Souplex blade is a golden combo. The Gillette Super Thins worked out nice too. In general a smooth and more forgiving blade works best for me in this razor.
