Question about Nivea ASB for sensitive skin; Anyone feel burning?

I have a question for anyone that uses the Nivea ASB for sensitive skin.. Does anyone else feel a burning when they apply this? Now it is not a harsh burn or anything but I definitly feel a burn. I typically apply this after a cold water rinse while my face is still wet. I rub it in for a bout 30sec before another cold water rinse. I don't think I am allergic to the ASB but not sure if the burning for this type of thing is normal or not. I mainly wonder since it is alcohol free and supposed to be a 'balm' =p

I have no complaints with Nivea ASB, sensitive-skin or otherwise. In fact, it's the only ASB I use. Never had any burning at all from it. Why do you rinse it off? It's a moisturizer and will help your skin all through the day.

Yeah, the rubbing in for 30 seconds is bad for the face, and IMO not necessary at all. I use Nivea ASB as well, and I think it works great. I prefer the menthol type so that I get some cooling on my face.

However, I have noticed that I will occasionally get a bit of burning after a have a bad shave. Because I have sensitive skin and a heavy beard, I am prone to ingrowns and weepers along my neck line. When I have a bad shave I will get some burning. Nothing bad though.

My suggestion, is to lay off the rubbing it in. I find that my skin soaks it right up and I don't need to rub it in. Also, I wonder about the rinsing after putting it on. Wouldn't that wash all the balm off afterword?

+1
I also had some burning, and I think it was because, as a newb, I was getting lots of irritation, nothing wrong with the product. Be gentle.

Could just be your skin doesn't like it. I've used it every shave for the past year and love it. Prior to the ASB, I splash on some witch hazel (with alcohol). I also don't rub the ASB in for more than a second or two and don't rinse afterwards.

I've used the Nivea asb for a long time, and I can vouch for it. The biggest mistake that people make is applying aftershave balms, lotions, etc. almost immediately after shaving. If you've got burn, the immediate use of Nivea asb will burn like hell. I just use an improved technique coupled with delayed asb and BANG I'm m......fking sexy. Think of it like the old spice commercial "I'm on a horse".

I have always got a warmish glow from the Nivea ASB. I can't say I would describe it as burning, but I definitely feel it. Great stuff though!

funny you should mention this - yesterday I gave a little wet-shaving tutorial for my girlfriend's youngest son - his first shave! (He did well.) I gave him Nivea sensitive skin ASB as his first balm. "This burns!" he said.

I figured it was because of his virginal noob-ness... but maybe not. Likely there's a little something in there that doesn't agree w/ him.

Guess we'll find another for him.

Same here, only difference is I cold water rinse between the WH and ASB. Shave, warm rinse,Pat dry, WH, clean up my gear, cold rinse, Pat dry, ASB. No rubbing just let is soak in! Love that stuff. I posted earlier looking for Arko Extra sensitive balm. Anyone ever see/try it? Wondering how it compares.

I get a little burn from it. Nothing like slapping on an alcohol-rich AS, though. I rinse with warm water, then cold, pat dry, then WH and let that air dry. Then aftershave -- I use several in the rotation, including Nivea Sensitive. I'm not surprised when Clubman burns, or Pacific Rush. And the Nivea doesn't even come close to that kind of heat. But I figured something called Sensitive would be absolutely burn-free.

Still, it seems to work well.
