Question about canned foam, do you still use it?

I did, see post #30. It was actually a good shave. I used one of the twin disposables I had. With the amount of soaps and creams I have I just haven't gotten around to trying it again using one of my DE razors.
DE's, Artist Club razors, injectors, carts etc. all work quite well with canned cream. Just make sure to apply with wet hands to a wet face after a shower.

Dang it! I had been doing it all wrong for 30+ years I had been using canned foam before finding DE shaving. I had been applying it to a dry face with dry hand before a shower, no wonder it felt awful and I got tired of shaving. JK!!!! :biggrin1: Although I can't remember if my hands were wet though so that part maybe true.

Post a video...exploding cans are fun. 😁😁😁
Depends on where and how. If it’s under the sink because you lost AC during a southern Florida summer not so much (personal experience). If it’s at a shooting range or back yard in an area that will allow it yeah it would. Just make sure you use reasonable safety measures and precautions

I've been using foam for the past several weeks now. I would say I use it 8 out of 10 shaves

At first it was Gillette foamy with lime scent. Good perfomer. Then my wife bought Palmolive foam for me when she's been to Germany recently. Excellent stuff. It's the best one for a long time I've tried.

Quick and pleasurable, what do I need more? Slickness is great if you add enough water, lather is similar to shaving cream e.g. You know, I would say if a shaving soap is a 10, this (and any other quality foam like Gillette, Palmolive, Proraso, Nivea, Figaro) will be a solid 8 and a half or even 9. That's totally and absolutely enough for me and my weekdays morning shaves.

Little demon on my left shoulder has been telling me I may use it as my regular lather and forget for a while about my warehouse of soaps and creams  save my soul...:aureola::frown2::ouch1:

To sum up, soaps and creams are the best, but the difference is so small for me. Maybe it's just my temporary addiction to foams, let's see...

I remember trying some Foamy lime and even tried Barbasol and I think one gel way back when. Thought the gel then was overpriced. When I tried Foamy Sensitive I stuck with it, that was when I switched to a can of Barbasol but I didn't like it.

You are a step up on me as far as wanting to use canned foam. In the 8+ years with soaps/creams I have no desire to go back to my Foamy even after trying it after I started this thread. It maybe takes a little more time to prep soaps/creams versus the canned foam but I have time so no big deal. Only difference since the switch to DE shaving is I am now doing 3 passes versus a quick one pass with Foamy.

Nope. I stopped using the can stuff before I started wet shaving. If you want to have fun with those two cans, set 'em up on a fence and shoot them with a pellet gun. They're pressurized so you'll get a nice explosion!

Yes. 90% of my shaves, I bowl mix soap. However, when pressed for time, I use either 'Smartly (smells like the ocean) a Target store brand, or Orange cap Barbasol (for sensitive skin).
Here's à pic of Smartly.

I've tried some shaving soaps like Mitchell's, Cella Bio, Taylors Eaton, Arko, Omega and Proraso Green, but despite getting them like fresh whipped cream, I find them all lacking compared to using Barbasol Aloe/Extra Moisturizing, Shick Skintimate Gel and Gillette Satin Care Gel. Taylor's is probably the closest to being suitable on it's own, but the burning sensation is not something I appreciate. The canned products are never irritating. I love the scent of Proraso Green and Cella though and sometimes will rub it directly on my skin with a brush and apply some Barbasol over that. Or just mix them in a bowl.

Have you tried Proraso/Bigelow foams? The two are the same and Proraso is cheaper on Amazon.

I may try the Proraso foam at some point. Is it any slicker against the skin than the soap puck ? I find it's too draggy regardless of how much I use or how it's prepared and applied.

I don't know much about hard pucks. I apply it with a brush as if I'm using cream from a tube. To me it works, doesn't burn and rinses cleanly.
