Question about a 1941 GILLETTE RANGER TECH.

Does anyone know how many 1941 ranger tech. razors were produced by Gillette? I have searched from hell to high
water and I can not find the answer. I have read that they were made for the Christmas holiday of 1941, but the start of WWII caused Gillette to stop making them, and started making the 3 piece for the service men. Also, can someone tell me what the time frame was during 1941 that the Ranger Tech. was being produced?:001_unsur

The short answer is that no one really knows. You can check out this post of mine from a few months ago for more, but in short it looks like Gillette announced the Ranger Tech on May 3, 1941 when they sponsored the CBS broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, and they surely would have had them ready to hit the retail market everywhere at that point. So they would have been on the market for more than half the year, and they would have almost certainly already sold the Christmas stock into the retail pipeline by the time that Pearl Harbor happened. That would mean that they really probably had their 1941 planned production run more or less unimpeded, with just the remainder of December cut short.

That is one of the best insighful posts on this model.

Thanks for the answer on when distribution went into effect. I guess the only way to get the number of the ranger tech. manufactured
would be to contact Gillette and see if they still have records on file for that time period. Thanks again

Sadly, I believe questions on the likelihood of that are best referred to the accounting offices of Slim & Nunn.
