Morning Shave - 10/01/24
Shave Number:
348
Passes: 3
Razor: Merkur 41C
Blade: Tatara Platinum (White) (2)
Soap: Proraso Red
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft RR400
Aftershave: Clubman Lustray Blue Spice
Shave Comfort: 10/10 (Smooth)
Shave Quality: 9/10 (DFS+)
Shave Rating: 9.5/10
A bit closer shave than last one. However, it felt like the blade was struggling a bit though. It was tugging a which made it not as smooth shaving. I did not on the other hand end up with any irritation, which kind of surprised me. Plenty good shave though to see me through the day.

Not sure if this blade is related to the Tiger blades or not, but it almost feels like it is. It reminds me of the Tiger Platinum that I used a while back and did not have the greatest experience with. I did not make it through an entire week with the Tiger Platinum and this blade seems to have the air go out of it quickly as well. However, we will see with other razors how it performs. Tomorrow I will most likely use the RR Mentor with it.

Have a blessed day everyone!

I am currently in Western NC. Though we didn't loose power, we lost cable, Wi-Fi, and phone Internet.

Glad you're okay and I hope everything is up and running soon, sir.

I'm so happy to see this post from you! I knew you are out in the very western part of NC and that the storm hit hard over there. I am very glad to hear that you are OK.

Thursday night the cable TV and Wi-Fi went. Same thing with the cellphone Internet and phone service.

You guys can get info we can't. I am in the Maggie Valley area. We just have no outside information.

In Waynesville, the Ingles grocery store had no Internet and was cash only. The cashier told me that she had no cell service either.

There is little to no gas and it is by cash only. I am on empty. Just went to one of the few gas stations that had fuel and they were closed, to open for cash at 6 AM. I will return.

Found a tiny pocket of Internet.

What a difference a razor makes. Same blade, but instead of the Merkur 41C using the more efficient RR Mentor and it was markedly better. Much closer shave, still very smooth. Very nice shave indeed. Not sure if this blade is thinner than I am used to, but it seems noisier in the same razor that I have used before. Very close to a BBS shave.

I was on the verge to give this shave a BBS rating, but I could not quite. I found a few stragglers but they were few. It was a fantastic shave this morning with all the trimmings. The razor changed the entire shave experience, with this blade, from the two last ones. It goes to show that we have to try the blades in as wide variety or razors that we can to get a good feel for them. I had almost dismissed this blade, but now it seems like an ok blade. I think the rest of the week will be a different story with this one. However, it does mean that this blade is razor dependent, which is not really a good thing. Still I take this morning shave with gladness.

Have a blessed day and happy shaves!

Thank you for the update. At least it sounds like you are ok. I hope that power will get restored quickly and that you can get some gas. I am sure that the roads are tough to get around on where you are as well. My prayers and thought are with you and those around you as well.

Yeah I have heard that it is mostly private help around there. Is that true?

Yes, that is very true. Government resources are mostly non-existent.

Where I am at, the damages were minimal, except for low lying areas.

It is totally unbelievable to me that with our "advanced" technology, we do not have the information connectivity that we had in the 60's.

I used my last $20 this morning for gas. Everyone today uses cards. Problem is, that without Internet connectivity, no card processing is possible. ATMs won't operate and there is no way to get cash.

Is the Government prepared for this? Apparently not!

I am so happy to hear that you did not have much damage where you are at. We have a lot of "holes" really against these kind of things. When power goes out we really have a problem on our hands. Pretty much everything is dependent on electricity and internet and we have no fall back. Cash use is dropping and most people, including myself, do not really have a stash of cash for these kind of things. It probably would be good to have a little bit of cash on hand for things like this in retrospect. I know I need to fix that issue myself.

My grandfather always taught me to have cash on hand. He was a wise man.

Boris, you don't look a day over 39. :)
This is more like it!
