Prayers for your wife and her mission team.
I am currently in Western NC. Though we didn't loose power, we lost cable, Wi-Fi, and phone Internet.
Glad you're okay and I hope everything is up and running soon, sir.
I'm so happy to see this post from you! I knew you are out in the very western part of NC and that the storm hit hard over there. I am very glad to hear that you are OK.
Thanks for your updates and sending more prayers your way.Thursday night the cable TV and Wi-Fi went. Same thing with the cellphone Internet and phone service.
You guys can get info we can't. I am in the Maggie Valley area. We just have no outside information.
In Waynesville, the Ingles grocery store had no Internet and was cash only. The cashier told me that she had no cell service either.
There is little to no gas and it is by cash only. I am on empty. Just went to one of the few gas stations that had fuel and they were closed, to open for cash at 6 AM. I will return.
Found a tiny pocket of Internet.
Thank you for the update. At least it sounds like you are ok. I hope that power will get restored quickly and that you can get some gas. I am sure that the roads are tough to get around on where you are as well. My prayers and thought are with you and those around you as well.Thursday night the cable TV and Wi-Fi went. "The sky is literally falling. What do I do? Grab the valuables and loved ones? Put a go-bag together? Drive to a safe zone for FEMA assistance? Call my insurance company?
Nope.
Drive to the nearest cell tower and post my shave of the day"
I hope that power will get restored quickly and that you can get some gas.
Yeah I have heard that it is mostly private help around there. Is that true? The shaving show must go on!
As for FEMA assistance, good luck...
I am glad you found some gas. Yeah the pictures and videos are really heart breaking. Whole communities in some places not even there anymore. Very sad indeed.Fortunately, we did not loose power or water. Did mange $20 worth of gas early this AM.
Found a pocket of Internet. Got a look at the devastation from YouTube videos.

I am so happy to hear that you did not have much damage where you are at. We have a lot of "holes" really against these kind of things. When power goes out we really have a problem on our hands. Pretty much everything is dependent on electricity and internet and we have no fall back. Cash use is dropping and most people, including myself, do not really have a stash of cash for these kind of things. It probably would be good to have a little bit of cash on hand for things like this in retrospect. I know I need to fix that issue myself.Yes, that is very true. Government resources are mostly non-existent.
Where I am at, the damages were minimal, except for low lying areas.
It is totally unbelievable to me that with our "advanced" technology, we do not have the information connectivity that we had in the 60's.
I used my last $20 this morning for gas. Everyone today uses cards. Problem is, that without Internet connectivity, no card processing is possible. ATMs won't operate and there is no way to get cash.
Is the Government prepared for this? Apparently not!
My grandfather always taught me to have cash on hand. He was a wise man.I am so happy to hear that you did not have much damage where you are at. Listening to the older generation is always worthwhile. We can always learn from them. Of course now we are quickly marching towards being the "older" generation. At least I know I am.My grandfather always taught me to have cash on hand. He was a wise man.
Boris, you don't look a day over 39.Listening to the older generation is always worthwhile. We can always learn from them. Of course now we are quickly marching towards being the "older" generation. At least I know I am.
Love it! Glad you are OK!The shaving show must go on!
