Queen Charlotte shave cream

Ever try one of their creams? Which scent? Thoughts? I'm trying to get a clue on the Esquire and Queen Charlotte scents if anyone's tried them. Opinions on other scents are welcome too. Also, please describe the lather quality, texture, etc... By the way the cream is described on their website, I'd imagine something similar to castle forbes.

Their creams are excellent. The Esquire is my favorite scent. They have the consistency of the soft Italian soaps like Cella (often called croaps) and I'd say a bit firmer than CF. Very easy to lather with a nice slick cushioning lather that is among the best of the tallow based products.

I have not tried the two creams posted in the OP but the 3 creams I have used (with another just added but not yet used) have been great. Easy to load and use. Easy to recommend QCS.

I highly recommend ordering a sampler and trying them out yourself. I have a few full tubs: Fougere, Vostok, Provence and (custom) Juniper. I'm also planning on ordering Esquire and Basilica after the X-mas sabbatical. They perform the same, which is to say they are all excellent.

QCS is my favorite product. I use both the soaps and creams. Esquire is my favorite scent and I enjoy the Queen Charlotte as well. Agree with ordering a sampler pack.

Esquire is a very balanced mix of sandalwood and lime. I have the same scent in an aftershave balm fromQCS.
Queen Charlotte is difficult, nay, impossible for me to describe. I feel it is masculine but complex. Not floral to my nose which is good. Even though that description sucks, it's about as good as I can do.

One other scent to strongly consider is the Basilica. It is wonderful.

I really like QCS creams. I like Lavender, Queen Charlotte, Monaco, Basilica, Sandalwood and Provence (now discontinued) I would love to try Green Irish Tweed. I prefer the aromas over any other cream--not perfume like or heavy in any way. It takes a bit more work to create a rich lather than with a soft cream like TOBS, but worth it.

I didn't like the Queen Charlotte scent at all. However, Celestial woods, Mysore sandalwood, and green Irish tweed type are all fantastic scents. And the performance of their creams/soaps is top notch

QCS is basically all I use after going through a myriad of soaps and creams. PIF's or sold off everything else. Have also gone through basically EVERY QCS scent these is, and ended up keeping the ones I like. The performance is hands down top notch stuff, never letting me down. I have only used the creams and not the soaps, and tend to mix my lather on the thicker side (I hate airy, fluffy lather. it may look great, but lacks in performance for me.) Of every product I have tried I just get the best, closest, most consistent, irritation-free shaves with QCS...

The only drawback I have found with QCS are the scents. Some of the scents can be very faint to nonexistent. As an example, I LOVE pine scents and was stoked on Celestial Woods, but this scent is really, really faint, almost nonexistent. Other scents are much stronger, like the Fougere, which is VERY strong. I fond the scents to be very 'hit or miss' for me. The few I have stuck with and are keepers are:

Mysore Sandalwood
Esquire
Lavendar
Hanami (not offered anymore, thing green tea and cherry blossoms)

I also have a sample of Coconut that i asked Matt about that smells freakin' AMAZING. THink of a mildly sweet scent, (but NOT like suntan lotion) and better smelling than GFT Coconut (which is the ONLY other product I own besides QCS stuff). I have written Matt twice now telling him that he needs to put a coconut scnet into production because I think it would be a huge hit and have no idea why he doesn't offer this as a regular thing. He can make it as a custom order, but don't think people know that and think people would go nuts for it if it was in regular production.

Esquire is an awesome scent. Very lime/citrus similar to the key lime, but hidden in there is some Mysore Sandalwood. Very vibrant and refreshing. Would go with this scnet for sure over just a basic lime scent.

Mysore is pretty mild, natural smelling, almost creamy, earthy and faintly sweet smelling (if that even makes sense but have no other way of describing it!) It's my go-to scent for sure, and although it's not very strong, it just always seems to smell great. A wonderfully clean, refreshing, slightly subdued but noticeable scent. I just finished a tub of this, and if it means anything, it's the first product of any kind since I started using a brush and cream that I have actually polished off. No worries though, because I just had a brand new tub delivered last week!

The sampler is a really good idea, because you won't be committed to being stuck with the ones you don't like for the life of a tub. As much as I rave about the performance of QCS, there are definitely more than one scent that I just do not like at all. As an example many seem to like Basilica, and the second I opened a sample of it it made my stomach turn. You have to try them out for yourself.

The QCS creams are outstanding, and I've had full tubs or samples of most of the scents. The Esquire scent was quite pleasing and not too strong, but the Queen Charlotte was the only QCS cream I had to put on the B/S/T due entirely to its scent. There's a lot going on there, and it is strong (to me) and one of the scents that seems to stick around. There is something I don't like in it, and it may be patchouli (just a guess).

My favorites are lavender and Provence, but I really enjoyed the two samples of Esquire I had also. Pull the trigger. You will have no problem trading or selling any you don't like on the Forum B/S/T/

yes, i agree. i've had talks with matthew about a coconut as well, but never pulled the trigger.

when the time comes, it's good to know it's a pleasant scent. he tried to describe it, but it's nice to hear it from a consumer as well.

Same here. And I had the same experience with vetiver.

I have QCS Green Irish Tweed, and it's quite a good rendition of Creed's famous cologne. If you're not familiar with Creed, you may know about Cool Water, which smells kind of similar to it. Anyways, fantastic scent and amazing performance. If you're getting the shaving cream, you should also pick up their aftershave balms. Nice and soothing.

I had a tube of the CF lime and it's nothing compared to the smell of the QCS key lime. The closest I've found is Godrej lime cream or Benton Clay bergamot and lime.

Can one of you gents describe the mysore sandalwood scent? My favorite sandalwood is AOS, but I think the performance could be better. How does QCS sandalwood scent compare?

Qcs is amazing. My fav is the iced key lime. Skleice aos is one of the best performing creams i have ever used. Take your brush after a good soak, get the tips in the tub and face lather. The stuff explodes, smells fantastic, and offers great protection. Hope that helps!

I am working through some samples of QCS from ODJ in a PIF, which I am working on a full review. I loved Queen Charolette but my wife did not, so I won't purchase that scent, but the performance was amazing. Thick and protective lather!

I cannot imagine that high end creams and soaps could be better than Mystic Waters soaps or Queen Charolette croaps!

I have a few of QCS soaps and creams (croaps) and they are the best of the harder soaps/creams I own. I have the QCS Queen Charlotte and the scent and lather are very nice producing a smooth enjoyable shave. A couple of weeks ago I bought the Fougere and even though I am NOT a fougere expert, this soap/cream had a wonderful scent and would recommend it highly if someone wanted to try a QCS soap/cream.
