QCS Vostok for southern gentlemen

Being a southern gentlemen, which means you live where its hot as hell and you're a man, I order vostok shaving cream.

Can i get some thoughts on this product????

Also, has anyone used the bath soap and your opinion on those?

Thanks!

I have the soap and enjoy it - only downside for me is the peppermint scent ( I am not sure if this is the menthol or peppermint) so I usually combine it with a cream e.g. St James to mask that.

Can't compare it to many menthol creams/soaps as I have only tried proraso but definitely very cooling without being uncomfortable.

Think it is a good choice and definitely worth a try in the hot weather.

I've not tried the cream but I love the soap, it's noticeably colder than Proraso and has a lovely minty scent. The performance is top-notch too, I'm definitely going to be buying more.

Vostok is a great summer cream. I can continue to feel the cooling after the shave. Sometimes by the third pass it is like ice. The bath soap is also good and cooling my only complaint is that due to the menthol it can be uncomfortable in sensitive areas especially if chaffed. As always I have found the scent to be a YMMV type of thing. Get a tub of Vostok and the bath soap and enjoy!!!

QCS Vostok is cold, likely one of the coldest products on the market. Don't be surprised if it comes close to bringing tears to your eyes!! And the performance is top notch, so you really can't go wrong!!

Have both and they are outstanding. It is was around 100 here yesterday and right now taking a bath
and going to bathe with the soap and shave with the cream. Believe me I will feel like it is in the 70's when
I am through. COOL!!!!

With a week of >100°F heat in GA, I too am interested in finding the coolest combo of soap/cream and AS. So if QCS Vostock is the coldest for the shave, how about AS's? I have Proraso and Flöid Blue, what might be colder/longer lasting? If there is something that could keep me cool and comfy during this insufferable heat wave, I'd like to know what it is. Until I can get the QCS I'll continue with the (old) Proraso Green (with and undercoat of Proraso Pre-Dopo).

Thanks, and stay thirsty!

Wow, thanks to the OP for reminding me that I got a sample of this with many others from QCS this past winter and I didn't try it yet waiting for summer. Well, it's summer. Got to dig it out.

I have the soap as well and love it. I find the scent to be very nice, thought it does not smell like straight peppermint- I suspect because of the menthol, however, it could easily be some other inherent ingredient of the soap. It provides a VERY chilly shave and is nice to use during the warmer months of the year.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but yes, the ASB is cold. I use it very frequently, even if I don't shave with the Vostok soap. If you like a cooling ASB, you should really give it a try- it compliments the soap well but also provides excellent skin care.

So if QCS Vostock is the coldest for the shave, how about AS's?

QCS Vostok aftershave balm, of course.

If you want a splash, Vitos Colonia ICE is really cold, although I don't have the same temperatures as you. I have understood that the Spanish Floïd (Vigoroso) has more menthol than the Italian ones. Have a trip to the aftershave forum, I am sure you are not the first one to ask for the coldest splash. :001_smile

You can also mix some 444 balm (really cold, unscented) with any splash, if that's an acceptable solution.

I love this whole line, the shaving soap, bath soap, shaving cream, and AS balm. Freeze your face off cold!

As for an AS to complement, naturally the Vostok AS balm is great. Others I like with it are Osage Rub (don't care for the scent but man is it cold!) and Razorock 888 AS lotion which has a nice fresh cooling effect.

For a splash, try Barbasol Pacific Rush

vostok is cold, very cold. i enjoyed it, but not enough to keep. i PIFed it to a gentleman down south, who is enjoying it i hope. to me it was awesome, until it reminded me of icyhot. it went on cold and got colder, then it got realllllly warm, like that cold hot, just like icyhot does. and the shave was AMAZING, but it still burned after all the lather was gone, like icyhot. so, really, to me it was like shaving with icyhot. IMHO, if there was a middle ground between poraso (new or old) and vostok, it would be the perfect hot weather shaver, but until i find it, im sticking with poraso, it at least doesnt remind me of icyhot.

one word...............COOOOOOL! So cool in fact, my eye's water every time. i love the cooling sensation, especially in the summer months. I pair it with Osage Rub.

You should like it!

Tried it tonight, stuff is badass without question. Solid product. Top of my rotation. Now to try the after shave balm and bath soap

Vostok is great stuff...I find that QCS soaps can take more water than other soaps. One thing to be aware of with menthol soaps is that the cooling effect can reduce the pain during a shave with a bad edge or using poor technique...but afterwards you will see and feel it!! this is not desirable

Today will be the 4th consecutive 100+ day in Chicago. Vostock, 444 balm and finish with Osage Rub - it's a bit much but it cools you off really well.

I'm with Rick. Chicago is brutal again today. This morning I used the QCS Vostok with the Vostok aftershave and that is one helluva cool pairing. I, like others, get the eye watering effect when I use the soap. It is by far the coldest feeling soap I have ever used. I was very impressed with the Vostok aftershave as well. I wish it came with more as you only get 1 ounce in the aftershave bottle. I am interested to see how long that will last me. Tomorrow I am going to try the new Iced Key Lime which I am excited to put to test. Overall, Razorock and QCS are my two top shaving soap makers.
