QCS or Mikes Natural Soaps?

About to finish the last of my soap accept for the ever lasting Arko :) I'd like to try something new...I've seen some great reviews for QCS and same for Mikes Natural Soaps. Mikes seems to be cheaper and you get more soap...

What, in your opinion, is a better performer?

They're both excellent. I'd buy some samples from each which will help you find the scents you prefer and the performance characteristics you like best with a fairly modest investment.

Can't answer yet. I have been using Mike's this week, and have some QCS that just arrived. I'll leave some feedback later, but will be watching this thread to see what the others are saying.

Obvious answer and what most will tell you is both. And they are correct.

I do not have much experience with QCS. I ordered a couple samples of the "croaps" and didn't get down with any of the scents, so didn't really use em much. I will order more eventually, but Mikes is another story.....that is some good stuff.

Here is a little lather porn to give you an idea

And just to add to your dilemma, you should probably check out Mystic Water soap too

I went the sample route, haven't made it to the QCS soap yet, I didn't ave time for a shave today, so tomorrow I will break one out. I thought Mike's would be the top, but I tried out a Mystic Water sample and like it just as much, I get lather a little easier out of those for whatever reason. Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with an of the artisan soaps that get press around here.

Most of the samples or scents I'm interested in with Mikes are sold out. With QCS I guess I just have an issue paying 10-13 dollars for 5 samples when a puck is 13 or a few dollars more for more product. I'm sure they all do that...

Spending 10 bucks to find out that one of the scents might be one of the best you have ever tried is probably worth it. And for Mike's soaps, if you email him, he will let you know when the stuff you want is available and it probably won't take very long.

And yes Jclifton, Mystic Water is awesome. It is my favorite soap. But Mike's is right there too.

My thought is that I would rather support artisans like Mike's, QCS and Mystic Water who are members of our community, participate on our boards and listen to us. I don't see anyone from TOBS or T&H making custom scented soaps because we ranted about a Rose/Lemon soap. Seriously, that kind of service is unheard of today. We are lucky men (and women) to be so spoiled. I will get off my soap box now.

MIke's Natural soaps are fantastic and as stated above, Mystic Water soap is phenomenal.
More lather porn of both soaps. Good luck.

I've got samples of both QCS and Mike's that I need to grate and try out. It's been hot out here so QCS Vostok gets a try in the morning.

I'm loving the Vostok right now.. it feels so good on these hot days and the Green Irish Tweed scent is top notch as well. Mike makes some excellent soaps too.. tough choice.. I say buy from both! Both QCS and Mike's have fantastic customer service and are a pleasure to deal with.

Just occurred to me we have three Ms now: Matthew, Michelle and Mike.

When I boarded the good ship B&B there were the three Ts (Trumpers, TOBS and Truefitt if I remember correctly), and then the Sues took their place.

It seems all good things come in multiples here :)

After spending time with both I find the scent is stronger in QCS. I enjoy many QCS scents more. For example I like the dry lime and Rose Otto.

Both are creamy yogurt-like lather, QCS seems creamier, but Mike's has that cool slick sheen to it.

Post shave skin care easily goes to Mike's. But ... QCS aftershave balms add that softness (oils) to your face similar to Mike's post care. The balm is definately worth a bottle for 10 clams.

This has been a recent dilema for me, so I did a little comparison. I know samples are really not about $ per ounce, but still thought this was interesting:

- Mike's Natural Soaps - 6 samples for a total of 3 ounces of soap shipped to me for $9.00
- Mystic Waters Soaps - 6 samples for a total of 3 ounces of soap shipped to me for ~$10.50*
- Queen Charlotte Soaps - 5 samples for a total of 1.25 ounces of soap shipped to me for ~$13.00**

* = website indicates $3.50 shipping with 3 samples if no full size pucks are purchases. I assume I would be able to get 6 samples for same shipping rate.
** = total price is dependant on which samples are picked as several options increase the total cost.

It just seems like you get much more soap for less money from MNS and MWS. All of this really doesn't matter to me since I am participating in the 2012 sabatical, but thought it was interesting.

You can't go wrong with either.

As recommended, you can get a sample from each and see for yourself
