QCS "Creams"

So I have pile of sample creams from Queen Charlotte Soaps. LOVE the Vostock, but got a full puck as a soap so I use as a super lather base with most of my other creams. Gives me a "Frosty TOBS Rose", or "Winter AOS lavender" or a "Frsotbitten TOBS Grapefruit " .... very nice.

But I pulled out one of the sample creams and I remember one of my issues with the creams... it seems lie they are closer to soft soaps, they are REALLY thick. Is there normal fro QCS creams? Do you all find that to be good or bad? Is there a good reason for the consistency?

In general I like the creams like TOBS creams, - as I said above in a super lather with the Vostock.

I have maybe a half dozen or so of Matt's creams and enjoy them all. His creams are quite thick and produce luscious lather. They may be on the firm side of soft soaps but as long as they produce great lather I could not care.

QCS are some of the best out there. I love their firm constancy over softer creams that you have to scoop out.

Load them directly on the puck and never have an issue. I have yet to use a QCS Cream that did not perform excellently.

They are often overlooked and overshadowed by newer soaps/creams hitting the market (Jabonoman, Panna, B&M etc), but they are the benchmark for what I measure most firm creams against.

QCS and MW are 2 of my favourites and both have the same consistency in the tub.

so their Creams (as well as their soaps) come in "pucks"?

I may go ahead and order some as I DO love the Vostock soap, and a cream to super lather with would b great, but would it really be a cream is I guess what I am wondering, or is it really just another soap.

Not sure I fully understand the diff but I do seem to like to mix a soap and a cream every morn.

yes, their creams and soaps come in pucks. their soaps are HARD and not pliable.

it's my understanding (from reading here) that the CREAMS used to be in fact marketed as a SOAP and people asked for a firmer version so they came up with the SOAP they have now.

so you could consider both SOAPS and one a SOFT SOAP and one a HARD SOAP.

I prefer the CREAM or SOFT SOAP if you will. I have only used one puck of SOAP and wasn't familiar enough with loading, so PIF'd it, but I will try them again in the future.

I hear the CREAMS are also strong scented if you like that.

Our shaving cream is sold in tubs. It is similar in consistency to Castle Forbes and Santa Maria Novella. Our shaving soaps are sold as pucks (with the option to get them in either a plastic tub or a wooden bowl). Our shaving creams can be scooped and put into a bowl, just like shaving cream from other brands, but they work best when loaded directly on (like a soap). Our shaving soaps are hard and cannot be scooped.

We make our shaving cream that way for two reasons. 1). It is more traditional. All shaving creams used to be like that. I am obviously biased, but I find thicker shaving creams lather a lot better than thinner ones. 2). It provides you a better value. We could make our shaving creams fluffy and airy, like those of our competitors, but then you would be paying the same price for less cream (and more air and more water).

Feel free to PM me, e-mail me, or message me on Facebook should you ever have any questions.

Sir, the only email I think I will be sending you will be to order a tub of cream and give it a fair shake. With the small sample the brush loading was not really an option. BUT thanks for offering the sample option.

so 1) LOVE The Vostock, use it nearly every morning with WHATEVER cream I use.
2) I wonder if I prevail on you for a little education...what is the difference (other than texture) between the soaps and the creams?

You won't be disappointed! I was without my QCS for a while as I finished up other products, but I just got my Green Irish Tweed and Basilica for my fall rotation and I am happy as a clam! Awesome product, superb customer service. Get some.

P.S. Oh, and I can't speak to Matt's comments about the history of these things, but I can speak to his comments about how long his creams last. We used to call these 'croaps', have not seen that term in a while. It fits.

Some customers have reported success with smushing the samples into a bowl and then loading on top of that. Maybe that will work. I think there is no real difference between the creams and soaps. They are scented at the same strength level, but because of the way they are made, the creams allow the scent to come through a bit more. I always tell people to get whichever they prefer in general.

I have one cream, Vostok and a soap, Celestial Woods. Personally I find the soap easier to lather. I like to mix with the Vostok too. Certainly good value for money.

If you happen to be looking for a scent to try I can recomment their Green Irish Tweed clone. It's a wonderful scent.

I've gone through two tubs of QCS creams and am working on three more. Like a soap, it takes a bit more work to load your brush but the results are well worth it! And a tub of QCS cream lasts a very long time. I love the scents--not at all perfume like or artificial, not thin or sweet but most are earthy and honest--at least that is how I'd describe them.

his creams...and soaps...are great.
i've really enjoyed his unique Vostok!

When I got my PIF package I received a couple of soap samples from Queen Charlotte in it. I liked the way that they performed so much that I purchased their creams (Iced Key Lime & Cayman) and was very impressed with them. Like Brucered I consider them the benchmark at what I compare my other soaps and creams to. Like the slickness, protection, ease of lather, post shave feel, longevity of a tub and scents they offer.

QCS soaps and creams are excellent imho, I have three Celestial Woods, Province and another I can't recall the name of. All are excellent, provide great shaves and the scents are top notch...though I am wanting to try less woodsy scents of theirs next perhaps Cayman or some thing possibly even Vostok.

There isn't a QCS product I don't like. Vostok and Iced Key Lime shaving cream are boss, shampoo bars that make outstanding lather, AS Balms (Vostok. With a cold water rinse, you'll be looking for a jacket to warm up), and finally the lip balms (Black Cherry and Mixed Berry, super soft and smooth. Great scent).

I can't say enough good things about QCS products.
