Q Tips

Does anyone know why these feel soooo good inside your ear. I know they say not to do this but come on, does anyone else have that sweet spot inside the ear with these like I do.

I love Q-Tips and use them everyday but the doctor told me they actually push the dirt and wax in your ear. As opposed to removing it.

If I have an itch in my ear, a Q-Tip is just about the only thing that can take care of it. So, I think I have some idea as to where you're coming from.

Ha ha Gman,... I know exactly what your talking about! I thought I was the only one,... I use 2 Q tips at a time though one is just not enough

I like using them too. I also use them to aid in the cleaning of my DE razors in the blade tray and underneath.

Been using them since they first became popular. Sure beats a car key, Bobby Pin (yes there used to be such a thing) Dirty fingernails etc, etc. Never had a problem with my ears,,,, ever! Friends that didn't mess with their ears ALWAYS had problems.... Oh well. To each his own.

I use Q-Tips regularly to clean my ears. As long as you don't have a wax plug, you can clean effectively with them. If you have severe buildup, go have your ears professionally cleaned. If you don't have a lot of buildup, you can use them to clean out.

I also recommend the Japanese mimikaki tools. I have one scraper that does a superb job of removing wax. Strangely, as a *very* white guy, I get the same flaky wax that Asians have. The Japanese tools do a superb job of removing it.

For me it's the opposite. I love cleaning out my ears with Q-tips, even though I know (as a doctor) that I'm not supposed to do it.

Well, I keep my ear canals TOO clean, and I scrape the insides of the canals with the Q-tips too much, resulting in otitis externa. This is an inflammation of the ear canal that is quite painful. I've had it at least four times in the past seven years or so. Everytime I get over a case, I leave the Q tips out of my ears for a while and I do fine, but eventually I start putting them in there again, and after a time I get the darn otitis externa back again.:mad3:

I would advise people to avoid using Q tips inside the ear canals.

I use them on myself often with no problems. I use them by the BUCKETLOAD on my cats who having no hair within their ears can't wick out the wax the way we can. I use a vetinary ear flushing solution to loosen the dirt then poke away. Some of them love it some object but all of them are better off for having it done. :001_smile

Use them everyday after a shower in the morning.

Ditto. Every morning, in the ears.

I also use them for many household purposes, mainly cleaning things, or painting small items.

I use them when cleaning up a new (in need of cleaning) DE razor.

I have a friend with a a so-called "sweet spot." It's hilarious to watch his eye roll back just a little bit when he uses them. I've even seen him fall asleep cleaning his ears while waiting for him to get ready for a night out or something. It's really weird.
