Put red laces on my AEs.what do you think?

There are my Jeffersons and today while visiting AE in port Washington they gave me some red laces. I came home, shined the shoes, and put them on...what do you think? The picture makes them look pink, but they are light red. I am not sold on them, but they are growing on me.

I happen to like them a lot. I put some coloured laces in a couple of pairs of shoes this past week as well.

No, I hate clowns. These really aren't my cup of tea, but they are a little unexpected. They also gave me a pair of olive green ones, but I have no idea where to use them.

I appreciate colored laces in lots of different shoes, but they're not working in those black wingtips.

"Got Shoes?"
Any true shoe connoisseur would notice that great shine before the laces. :thumbup1:

I think it adds a certain light-heartedness to an otherwise serious shoe.

That's the problem. The whole persona of that particular shoe is that it's a serious shoe. I agree that many rules are meant to be broken, and even relish a little haberdashian mockery from time to time. But I also respect traditional uniforms and prefer to leave black wingtips to their role and lore.

Not to mention those laces don't work with those shoes; perhaps the detailed perforations don't need competition from a (in this case, anyway) garish interloper.

I really appreciate everyone's comments, and thanks for the compliments on the shine! I will try them for a while and see if they grow on me...if not, I am capable of changing laces :)

Olive green goes nicely with tan, snuff or cola coloured suede. With dark brown, also.

Reds...not my thing, but certainly different.

Yes and no.

Modern role is a "serious business" shoe.

Historically, the perforations in the toe were to allow water to drain after walking through a pete bog. Not exactly a shoe designed for royalty.

My honest opinion? Nice shoes. Nice shine. Conspicuously audacious laces. I think it looks weird, but If that's your thing then who cares what I or anyone else thinks about it?

I just shined my burgundy Handcocks and put the olive laces on them...I think that looks better.
