Pure Lanolin for Shaving?

I have an extremely tough rawhide face coupled with thick steel-like whiskers (I bet I could sand down wood with my face), so I was wondering if anyone has used or uses pure lanolin for shaving?

Something like this:

Either lanonlin or something that really softens leathery skin and tough hair, as soapy or foamy products just doesn't cut it for me...literally.

I'm guessing that the desert sun and air has done a number on your skin. If your face and whiskers are that tough, then what might serve you best is more prep.

Thanks for the data link and it looks like lanolin and glycerin combination might be better. I usually shave in a hot shower for best results, but noob plus DE razor warrants some sink practice.

I recall on my Grandfather's farm we used lanolin and udder balm on the milk cows to heal and soften damaged skin. I also noticed lanolin is used in many shaving products like Nivea, Noxzema, Omega/Proraso, Mitchell's, etc., but I haven't seen anyone mentioning they used pure medical grade lanolin to shave with, hence the question.

Hi

I have purchased cosmetic grade lanolin and there is no way you could shave with it. Pure lanolin is the texture of heavy grease and so very sticky. It is difficult to work with and a bear to wash off. Diluted in a product it is a wonderful emmolient.
