Pure Badger given the Short Shrift?

What say you gentlemen to pure badger?

I know it's not luxurious or soft, but the two that I have beat the pants off of my Finest brushes on soaps. I'm actually surprised at how effective they are at whipping up a thick, dense, lather whenever I use them. I always think to myself that this is all anyone would ever need to be a happy wet shaver.

Does anyone else find that pure badger kicks butt?

I have a couple of brushes in Pure Badger and they are regular parts of my rotation. They do a terrific job on soaps and I don't have any problem with the "face feel" of these Pure knots. My other brushes are more luxurious, feel softer on the face and perform at least as well on the puck, but my two "Pure" brushes deserve their place in the den.

I've had only one Pure Badger ( an EJ Medium ) and I didn't like it - too scritchy and floppy at the same time. I'm sure there are better out there. I have subsequently picked up a couple of boars that do an outstanding job on soaps and they are almost as soft as my Rooney 3/1 Silvertip.

My experience is several knots of each grade, which isn't extensive. My experience is that the grades above pure are very soft, but hold lather too tightly. Toward the end of the shave, I have to slide the side of the brush on the edge of my lather bowl to get the lather out of the brush. This problem is less with pure badger. And, I find pure badger to be soft in feel after a few uses.

(You should know that my regular brush is horse, which probably should indicate to you that I have a high tolerance for the coarser hairs.)

I only have one and it is an omega stripey that was my first brush that i got from amazon long before i found B&B. it really has some soft tips though it has to be the most spineless brush i have used. for that reason i have not been able to find a correct spot in my rotation. when i first started i bought that brush and some bigelow cream and the floppiness was just the ticket for mixing up some good stuff. But i have gravitated towards soaps and face lathering 99% of the time and it just won't cut it.
