Puma in Bloodwood

So a wonderful member at SRP had a couple of slabs of blood wood that he wanted to trade for some microfasteners. I had purchased some when I first started making scales, so I happily sent him some and got the slabs yesterday. I looked through Russell's CA finish tutorial and figured I give it a shot.

I had recently found a Puma Silber (actually Mrs. Richmondesi found it and I got to buy it) that was in a set of painted wooden scales :mad3:, so I figured this was a good opportunity for me to get this wonderful blade in something a bit more appropriate :biggrin1:.

As you'll no doubt see I have some room for improvement, but I was pretty happy with the results:thumbup:

Wow, those painted scales are nasty. The new ones however, look wonderful so it looks like Mrs. Richmondesi did good! Let us know how you enjoy the shave. Here is a pic of my Puma 222 with redwood. The etching is almost gone but it's a nice shaver.

I had honed it several weeks ago, so I could already tell you that this is by far my best shaver. When I first started using a straight Paul gave me a couple of choices of straights that he would give me to get started. I went with a worked back Henckel's (which is also a good shaver), but he told me I would regret not choosing a plain 4/8" Puma...because it's the best shaver. Later on he let me use that Puma, and I don't know that I regret not choosing it (especially since I still have it :biggrin1:), but it is an amazing razor that is exceptionally easy to achieve fantastic results.

I am still in the process of learning about using a straight, but I can honestly say that I've never had a better shave than the ones I get using the Pumas I've had an opportunity to be acquainted with .

This is part of your evil plot to steal my collection by telling me you were going to work on razors for me while just keeping them :tongue_sm
