PSA Regarding Sanding Razors (Obvious Stated)

Today's Public Service Announcement was brought to you by Captain Obvious as a reminder not to be dumb......

Sometimes we knowingly do something so obviously wrong, but let prior misses get the best of our judgement. Simply put.......if you have a sanding jig specifically for blades.....USE IT.

Carry on...

Yes, great point in linking that Mark. Even the great Bill Ellis hasn't found a way to protect some of us (me) from our own poor judgement though.

So how many stitches?

This is the motivation I need to finish putting my jig together.

Get well Sir!

Thanks guys, I'm fine. Just figured it could serve as a reminder for some of us to keep honest. (5 stitches Mike). Shaving and honing is still doable, but stropping sucks!!!

I built one of those jigs (well, two really, but the magnets were smaller than they should have been for the first one) and it makes a huge difference. Cannot recommend them enough. Bill no longer sells them, but I would think someone here could make a few bucks on them and sell them here. Low material cost and if you've got the right gear, probably takes less than an hour to do.

But let's not distract from Obiwan's misfortune. Maybe this will cheer him up:

(Incidently, this is a current picture of Obiwan)

I don't have any of the right gear and it only took about an hour to make mine. Very glad I did too. You can get the magnets (rare earth or neodymium magnets) at some ace hardware stores. They are called "super magnets" and come in a package of 3. You can also get packages of 10-14 for the same price on amazon. Mine are 1/2 inch discs, 1/8 inch thick and are strong enough to keep the blade secure but it's still easy to remove without risk of flinging it across the room. The jug works whether scales are attached or not. I used sheet aluminum, works great.

Well, at least you were working on the razor. It'd be much more embarrassing if say, you had accidentally dropped the razor while shaving and tried to catch it. :bored:
