Nice pictures. That looks like a cool event. Can you give those of us who have never heard of this a little info (purpose, history, etc)? This is Providence, RI, I assume?

It is indeed Providence, RI, although in honor of Roger Williams I have always called it the City of Divine Providence.

HAHA I actually said that while waiting for the event to start, "If we were in Cleveland, the river would light itself!" A few people laughed, and others just looked at me in a weird sort of way...

Great pics, I grew up in Providence and spent a lot of time in Downtown , have seen waterfires a time or two though my wife was a huge fan . I'm guessing she went to see it three dozen times or so. Providence is a great town, great food, great brewpubs, and probably the best stripclub and tattoo studio to people ratio in the United States. And a donut shop on every other corner to boot.

And don't forget the Pawsox at McCoy Stadium. I had some great times there.

I live just a couple miles from Providence, and honestly I've never had any desire to go see this. Maybe I'm just bitter about the traffic.
