Hello. I started to restore a Filarmonica straight razor. I wanted to sand down the scales some just to restore them a bit. I'm hesitant with the nice gold lettering on the scales of the little harp and Filarmonica name. Is there something I can do to protect this? Or is it just a matter of staying away from that area of the scales?
Similarly I have a dubl duck with gold wash on the tang, is there a way to protect that? Should I put tape on it? I'm scared to put tape if it is going to pull anything off.
