Proraso Oilyness

I love the smell and feel of Proraso (technically c.o. bigelow). Whenever I shave with it though my face feels oily way earlier in the day than why I shave with other products and it seems to make my face break out some. Does anyone else experience this or know of any way to alleviate it?

When I use it, it makes my face feel great.:wink2:

I love the stuff...however, you may have some sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients...try giving the white tub a try, also very nice stuff, but its their ultra sensitive version.

I wouldn't say that it makes my face oily, but Proraso products are know to give people pimples around the lips and nose; I've heard people call it "Proraso lip." I rarely use mine anymore, though.

I find Proraso a bit drying. Are you moisturizing afterward? If not, it might be your skin's response to having its oils stripped.

Love the stuff too, never makes my skin any oilier than it normally is and doesn't cause any break outs for me. Everyone's skin is different though so I would also say try the one for sensitive skin.

Side question, are you rinsing well with hot water after your shave then rinsing again with cold? If not, give it a try. If you are going straight to cold you may be trapping some product in your pores...

Yeah, right now I'm doing a warm water rinse, cold water rinse, witch hazel, then i clean my gear up, and finally aftershave.

If you're doing the same routine on other, non-Bigelow/Proraso days, then it would seem that your face is reacting to something in the Bigelow/Proraso. I think the eucalyptus and/or camphor in it is what irritates my skin, but I don't have any problems with the white, Proraso Ultrasensitive, version. It still has a little menthol in it, so you still get some cooling effect, although milder than the green tube or tub version.
