What's new

Proraso is just plain excellent.

Its my Proraso tub's turn in my weekly rotation, beginning with this morning's church shave. I am reminded again how excellent and versitile the soap really is. The sweet spot is broad, one can use less water for more thick protetive lather, or more water for slicker slippery lather. Either way, the soap has great cushion and glide. My face feels moisturized, soft, and clean after rinsing. I am again impressed.

I think Proraso is one of the top soaps, commercial or otherwise, and it performs well above its price point.

I agree that is is very good at it's price point but will adamantly disagree (no disrespect to your appreciation of it )that it is one of the top soaps, not even close to the top soaps.

It is not as good as ADP MDC, ( both very expensive) Panna Crema, Tabac, even mid range soaps it struggles against like Mike's and Mystic waters. It just is not on that level and so many new shavers need to know cause Proraso is a great product at a great price but a bit overhyped and just not at the top of the heap. Razorock XX destroys Proraso and it's cheaper I think. I won't say it's my opinion, sure it is a little but I have tried a ton of soaps, just ask people who know soaps if you don't believe me.

it's all i've used since i started last week - white and green tub. have another tub of red on the way. i like it but i have nothing to compare it to. i have mystic waters wild lavender from a friend that i haven't tried yet. we are also going to order a kg of cella and split it, which i hear is good. oh and i have arko but haven't used it yet. wouldn't mind trying tabac and TOBS.

I have only used Arko, Tabac, Tobs and Proraso so not alot of experience. In fact Proraso is the least used by far but everytime I go back to it I am impressed at the shave I get and how my face feels after. Killer shave today with Toggle loaded with an Astra SP, 3 pass bliss. Proraso delivers for me but I am sure there are many more to try out and enjoy.

Proraso is my main soap. It gets used daily. I have a couple other soaps and creams, but they only get used once in a while. Proraso is my mainstay. I've tried lots of soaps and creams. Proraso is simply the best.

I'm a big fan of the green tub. I'm on the fence concerning the COB cream. I have the red in a tube, too. But I think I am allergic to sandalwood, which is a drag because I love the scent.

I use the green, red, and white tubs regularly. All make excellent lather, all smell great, and all make your face feel great after that CWR. I have used Proraso blue crème and it's excellent (less eucalyptus kick than the green). I am hopeful the blue comes out in a soap tub soon.

I'm waiting on my first tub of green that I ordered with the B&B brush. I'm new to DE shaving, the B&B is my first brush, but after watching a bunch of YouTube vids from Geo, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm sure it's better than the Clubman cream, in a can, that I've been using. We'll see!

I did not enjoy the green tube of cream at all. The soap performs slightly differently than the cream for me, but the methol kick is much more pronounced in the soap.

Used it again this morning with my New long comb and oh man what a close and comfortable shave. I'm enjoying hour six of BBS smoothness; as we speak I faceturbate!:biggrin1:

When I first started out, I really loved Proraso cream in the tube. Now, a few years down the line, I still enjoy it, but I wouldn't place in my top 5. I don't think its overrated at all. It performs well for its price and is really easy to work with.

For me Proraso is a solid barbershop choice and a trusted companion that never disappoints.

Somehow in several years of wet shaving ( and after opening the green tub for a couple years) I finally got around to trying Proraso last week. I thought it stacked up nicely next to the other soaps I've used ( nearly 20). It isn't quite as protective as a few soaps Ive used, but I think you could lather it with a hammer. Not picky about water or technique. My only gripe is that the old version, at least, has a bunch of chemicals in it. I think the update might have removed a few

I used the green tub soap last night for the first time in a while last night and enjoyed it so much I used it again tonight. Great shave with a Perma Sharp blade on its fifth shave.

~~~I know shave soaps and believe me when I tell you this, to say Proraso is overhyped is flat out wrong. Proraso is a top choice for a lot of shavers for a lot of reasons. Some (such as yourself) have found, that it does not work that well for them. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is, but over hyped it's not. Many of us that use Proraso get fantastic results using it every time we shave. Others including yourself do not. I gotta tell ya, I get fantastic results *EVERYTIME* I use Proraso shave soap, and their Pre Shave Cream. In fact, I wont shave w/o using Proraso Pre Shave at the front of every one of my shaves. It goes on under the first lather and both go on before a barber towel. I start every shave that way, no matter which shave soap (or the odd cream) I use, for both under the barber towel or the subsequent soap/cream that gets used for the rest of the shave
Best,
