I am considering trying Proraso creams. What is the major differences between the Green and the Blue formula. Besides what is obviously discribed. The feel, type of shave and scents I should expect.
The performance of the two is identical as far as cushion and glide goes. The Green has a noticeable menthol kick to it. The Blue doesn't. The scents are also different of course. My favorite is the Green, but I use the Blue when I want Proraso performance without the menthol.
I have the Gren and Red versions and they are both top notch performers. The green has a menthol smell to it which to me comes off as a soapy, old time barbershop kinda smell. (in a good way)
I have not used the Blue yet, but I want to. The reviews on the scent describe it as an anise (licorice) smell with a dirty laundry scent mixed in. (Presumably from the aloe that's in it.)
IMHO, try them.. for the price point compared to other creams, you won't be dissapointed.
The blue version smells of chocolate/cocoa powder. This is quite polarizing and I don't like it.
I can not detect any licorice or anise (anethol). So far the white tub was my favorite, I still have to try the red Sandalwood version.
I'd start with the green and move on to the other colors as you're able. The red is a nice fall/winter cream. I've tried the green and red in tube and the white in tub and they have all been fantastic products, hitting well above their price points.
Red is probably what I use the most. I have every Proraso product. I prefer the tubs (not creams). So I end up using Blue the least but I really like the smell... YMMV. I say start with RED since it is most suited for cooler weather.
So just came out of Pasteur's in NYC. They had Proraso Green tubes for $7.49 and Red for $8.99. So I loaded up on those. The Blue was well priced too at $9.49. But the red and green were great buys. The tubs were no bargain at $13.50 though. I am pretty set up through 2014... Hehehe
I have the red, green and blue. I much prefer the green in the shave soap, cream, AS and balm. The blue is nicer than the red for me. For some reason the red makes my face feel dried out after a shave. The blue balm scent is different. I agree the aloe must be muting the overall scent. I think it's a clean scent, but the green is more refreshing feeling.
