Production razor with a big chunky tang?

Someone please recommend a razor with a nice chunky fat grip? The criteria are:

1) Must be a production razor that can be easily purchased from an online vendor

2) Should be 6/8 or bigger - Giving strong consideration to Hart, 7/8 Friodur, Dorko 300, and Dovo 55

Any and all recommendations welcome!

Are you having a hard time holding the razor while you shave? Are you having a hard time trying to get a decent grip and make it feel comfortable while you shave?

Neither. My grip is fine. However, my Gotta has a nice chunky tang with some heft to go with its girth. And I enjoy shaving with it. So now that I'm selling off most of the my other straights, I just thought I'd look into another razor with similar characteristics.

If you can find a big Torrey, they are great shavers. I have a 7/8" and it is my favorite. I know that's not a production razor, but maybe posting a WTB will shake some loose.

If you do decide to go vintage, the eaisest to find would probably be a Sheffield blade. They are known for their large tangs and beefy blades.

Yes, I'd say your best bet is going to be a vintage Sheffield. They're the biggest tangs I've used. Gold dollars have beefy tangs relative to my vintage Solingens and US, but not quite as big as the Shef's I've owned. I don't buy much in the way of current production razors though, so there may well be more suitable ones out there.

I just picked up a Hart and was pretty impressed with the heft of it. Maybe the tang isn't quite as big as you're looking for but I'd say it's certainly above average. The Friodur is a fairly standard grip. I'd highly recommend you get a Dorko 300 on its merit alone. It's one of my favorite shavers and big grip or not, you'll love it.
