Pricing query re: New Improved, Bostonian, Richwood Replate

Guys,

I need consultation from all of you here. I have three of these replated razors for sale. You know what they are, circa 1920's, but acid washed to remove the laquer and nickel, and replated with nickel. They shine like mirrors.

They aren't vintage anymore, but are restored 100 year old razors. I need to know the following:

1. Is B&B the place to be offering these for sale to begin with?
2. If so, what pricing guidelines would be fair to you for me to follow?
3. I have the boxes to go along with the razors, should they be offered too? The silver metal one is in excellent shape, but is not replated, so you can tell the difference (doesn't look bad, though.) The replated blade holders are included.
4. Did I make a mistake putting this post on B/S/T and not another forum?

If everything is OK and you give me guidelines, I will state the sales price as an edit to this post.

I apologize in advance for any mistakes I might have made, I never tried to sell anything here before, much things so out of the ordinary.

tx.

Very nice but probably should be in one of the forums- otherwise it clogs up the b/s/t thread- probably should be posted somewhere else until you have a price.

I am no expert but for what it is worth

1. Is B&B the place to be offering these for sale to begin with?

Yes but normally you put the price you decide, you can get an idea from searching the BST for previous valuations but each is different some will view the replate as a good thing some will prefer the original. Post what you want to sell it for and if people feel it is to high they will say so.

2. If so, what pricing guidelines would be fair to you for me to follow?

As above, search here and other forums for prices, they really are variable and some razors go through a popularity phase and the prices go up for a while and back down, I don't know enough about this specific model to comment.

3. I have the boxes to go along with the razors, should they be offered too? The silver metal one is in excellent shape, but is not replated, so you can tell the difference (doesn't look bad, though.) The replated blade holders are included.

That is up to you, if you offer the box / blade holder the value is higher. To me a cased razor is worth more than a uncased one, especially if the case is in good shape.

4. Did I make a mistake putting this post on B/S/T and not another forum?

Don't know but I think this is covered in the sticky's, not to worry. Sort out what exactly you are selling and what you want for each one and stick it up. The masses will decide if it is too expensive. Some are trying to sell razors they paid a lot for so they will want more but if you got something cheap you can sell it at a resonance price make a few $ and someone gets a good deal.

Hope this helps.

On where to sell them, that is up to you. You may get more on the 'bay. Of course, you may also get less. And you don't know who will be getting them. They'll probably sell quicker here, and you can set a price beforehand and not put yourself at the whim of the bidder.

I would say to include the boxes. Definitely makes them more valuable. I agree that I prefer razors with their cases, and am willing to pay more for them.

Pricing may be a bit difficult on this because of the plating. There have been a few discussions on how it may affect the value. Its no longer original, but it is also in beautiful condition. So, it ends up with a good dose of subjectivity.

You may want to ask a mod to move this to another forum, and see what people say. Then offer it to me before posting on the B/S/T. ...seriously.

I took care of #4 for you. A reminder that you shouldn't be taking offers on these until they've been posted with a specific price in the b/s/t, which is, of course, a fine place for them, so long as you don't plan to make the sale of re-plated razors an ongoing venture.
