It occured to me at 4:24 in the am, how to prevent the shavepocalypse

Quite simple, really, and we've actually been doing it all along. Throw money at the problem. Buy razors, blades, creams soaps scuttles etc etc etc. Convert all your family and friends.

If there's a profit to be made, our tradition/hobby/chore will live on.

It is but one more sign of the coming...

Get 'em the way I got caught ...

Play up the "10 cents a blade vs. $1.25+ per generic cartridge (on sale)" angle, wait 'til they drop the $50 for a Merkur, cheap brush, blade sampler, and drugstore soap ... and then mention that whole soap/cream/aftershave/brush/razor/blade acquisition disease that seems so contagious.

As far as I'm concerned, while it's not the first "moneysaver" that'll end up costing more than expected (homebrewing, cheesemaking, VOIP, most kinds of home food preservation, and so on), it sure is worth it.

If things keep going the way they are, I may have to finish my dissertation and start looking for a real job ...

The shavepocalypse can not be averted, much like of the Fall of Rome could not be averted.

What we can do is shorten the Great Interregnum, the period of utter darkness after the Shavepocalypse, when a new and ancient shaving order will once again rise from the ashes.
