What's new

pretty sure I id'ed these correctly.

There is no way to see the red dot on the fatboy. I am pretty sure it's facing the wrong way to see it. I'm pretty sure of the ID though, since the bottom plate seems wider than a reg. FB, and I think I see it's unique toothy tray in the blade gap.
If it isn't, then oh well. Still not a bad price even for a regular fatboy, slim and lady.

You beat me on another evilBay listing. Yes that is a President.

I didn't see this thread until after I made my bid. I don't want to sound like sour grapes, but you might want to take steps to protect yourself.

I thought that seller looked familiar. Guess it's familiar in a bad way.
I used paypal. If he sends razors other than the ones pictured like he did to ironbrewer, I'm covered with their buyer protection, or eBay's buyer protection, whichever. But thanks for the heads-up.

Did that 2nd guy just put up a picture of 3 razors and offer absolutely no other information in the listing?

Yep. zip, zilch, nada. Not even sure how he did it. When I try to save/schedule a listing that I'm working on and didn't get around to finishing yet, I get an error saying I need a description.
All of his listings were sparse description wise.

That blade tray DOES look different... and to think I passed over the auction without a second thought. If it turns out to be a red dot... nice find!

Aren't there also subtle differences in the proportions of a Red Dot's adjuster dial as compared to a regular Fat Boy? Perhaps that is another way to try to figure it out.

I also completely passed over this listing. If you truly scored a Red Dot, you completely deserve it.

Please let us know, either way...

The big difference between the Red Dot and the standard Fatboy is the design of blade compartment and how the adjustment is made. The Red Dot is made like the Toggle and the 195. The Fatboy has the four bars in the base rise and fall as you adjust. The Red Dot and the Toggle have the whole blade base rise and fall.

YES!

And here she is in all her dirty glory.

Everything appears to be straight and functioning. Could use a soaking, the dial is a little stiff, but she works! Too soon to tell if there's any brassing under that grime. Paint looks at least 50% intact, again hard to tell if it's worn away at all or just covered in scum.

Still needs a good polishing, and one pesky spot on the knurling hasn't come off yet. But she is cleaning up better than I had hoped.

Congratulations on the nice score!

It is nice to know that these things are going to people who appreciate them, and will use them, instead of just sitting dirty in a drawer somewhere.
