Pre-use prep for restored brush

I just finished epoxying the new knots in my restored EverReady 150's. I am letting them sit for at least 24 hrs. before getting them wet. Is there something that I should soak them in prior to use? I read some steps for cleaning used brushes - should I use any of that before using?

Good question....I just went ahead and used mine as is after the epoxy setup. Would be interesting to know if the knots are sterilized from TGN or whomever supplied the knot.

Sterilization is over-rated. You just want it to be clean, the hot soapy water you shave with will take care of the rest.

I just make a couple of test lathers with it to wash out the wet dog smell. That is about all the cleaning it needs.

I boubt they are any dirtier or cleaner than any other new brush. Do a cleaning if it has an odor.

+1, this is what I do.

No ill effects so far.

I usually just do a few test lathers as well however you might want to try Ambrose's little trick.

I've done this and it does seem to break in your brush a lot faster but could just be subjective. Whatever it can't hurt
