pre-shave soap

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here or in the shaving soap forum.

As part of a purchase I made, some pre-shave soap is being included. Does anyone use this product? Is its purpose similar to that of a pre-shave oil or is just another way to wash one's face as part of shave prep? I've yet to receive it, but I doubt it comes with instructions.

I use Musgo Glycerin soap. I lather it on and do a light rinse keeping most of it on my face and neck.Slippery stuff so you can lather right over it. It eliminated shave oil for me. I find my ritual has evolved since I got back into DE shaving. that is why I try things other members suggest.
