Pre-Heat Scuttle

I never do this, but it was a cold, damp morning in NY - so I filled my scuttle (bowl too) with hot tap water before I got in the shower. I left the stopper off as I knew that would allow some of the heat to dissipate. After the shower I emptied the scuttle and refilled it with hot tap water.

The later was wonderful. I was afraid it would be too warm and dry out the lather, but the Simpson's held up to the heat with no problem. Very warm lather - even on the third pass.

Nice.

I always place my scuttle in the sink when I fill it. Then before I make lather I empty the water from the scuttle and fill it again. This "pre-heating" of the pottery helps it stay warm longer

that's my every day routine for my brush or bowl scuttle.

fill inner and outer. shower. drain. refill outer.

I preheat my brush scuttle in the wintertime - the pottery is colder and I want my lather warmer. I don't typically preheat in the summer.

Pretty much my daily routine as well. I leave the stopper in and soak my brush in the bowl part. My lather seems to improve sometime leading up to the second pass. If I only I was more patient I'd have better first pass lather.

The 2 times I've used my new scuttle I put hot water in the bottom and in the bowl to soak my brush.

This is about 5-7 minutes before I start loading mt brush and the water stays warm the whole time I shave.

This works just as well as the preheat and save on water
