Praising the Goodwill Razor

I cannot explain why, the Goodwill pictured as my avatar, this razor has impressed me so much among my inventory of open comb razors. I can feel the blade, but not so that I am concerned as I am with the Old Type. It seems more effective that either the New SC or LC. Perhaps Gillette just got it right, but chose not to continue. It is as smooth and enjoyable as the RFB #77.

Been a while since I've used mine. Thanks for the nudge. May have to give it some love again soon.

I believe this is when Gillette began to use tabs on the 3-piece razors. That might have a lot to do with it. That and the comb. These would be the factors or variables I attribute to the superb shave.

Goodwill is the only head that I have in multiple styles in my "free range head" collection.

It's one head design that every shaver should experience

There are three styles, correct? Do they all perform the same. If not, please explain why you think so. Thanks [emoji120]

My Goodwill #160 is quite similar to the NEW long comb razor; however, for reasons I can’t explain with words, it just shaves better than any other razor in my den. And my den includes an RFB #44, an OLD thin and thick cap, NEW LC and SC, 1941 Ranger Tech, 1941 Aristocrat, 1946-47 Aristocrat, British #15 Aristocrat, Pre-War and Post-War Fat-Handle Techs, 1956 Red Tip, 1965 Slim, 1961 Fat Boy, 1966 Superspeed, Muhle R41, EJ89. My Goodwill surpasses them all. Go figure.

I knew we would hear from you!! I might need to get my calipers out and do some evaluations. With your inventory, it means something that you think as you do.

You might give the 162 & 164 a try too. I don’t have a 164 user, but I anticipate the 162 & 164 are about equal.

I actually think I prefer the New long comb razors over the Old types (which I think the #162/164) are based on. I am hunting for an English Goodwill, though!
