Praise for the E-Type Injector

I recently scored an Injector from ebay which turned out to be a 1937 E2 Type model. I had absolutely no knowledge of Injectors beforehand, it was just a shot in the dark: I just wanted to try one and bought the first one available on the bay here in Germany.
When it arrived, I still had to wait two more weeks for new blades to arrive, I used these to clean it up and admire the stunning art deco design.
Now, after some weeks of shaving with it: Why oh why did I not try Injectors sooner?
The shave is totally foolproof, in fact very much like a cartridge shave in its simplicity. The results however are outstanding and rival my best DE shaves. If you have some DE experience, there is no learning curve to speak of.
My only complaint: I bought some blades in a plastic dispenser, and changing blades is a pain in the neck. The blades themselves are good, but the dispenser is a [expletive deleted]. I managed to find the real blades (metal dispenser) but they are pretty expensive.
To cut a long story short: At the moment I'm hunting for more Injectors...

my experience is pretty close to yours. I've been using Schick "G"s and and an L1 almost exclusively for a few months now. They are straightforward, simple to use and give excellent results. I'm in a pretty good groove now with them - I've been using GFT creams exclusively along with the injectors and I get a great shave in basically one pass WTG and some touching up XTG.

It's a crime that these were ever put out of production.

As for blades, I agree - the plastic injector dispensers are rubbish. They're too fiddly and I'm easily aggravated.

Buy the so-called "Chinese Schicks" and you'll be good to go. You can also check on eBay for old stock blades - I really like the Schick Plus Platinum blades, but they're expensive. But, of course, they're not made any more. I found them to be slightly smoother than the current Schicks but not too much more so, but you know, YMMV.

I have a Type M, L, and E.. Eventhough I like the injectors as a whole I must admit that the E is my favorite so far. Good score and enjoy it.:thumbup1:
