Posting Straight Razors abroad

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with posting straight razors abroad. I recently purchase a couple of straights and had them sent to my UK address as the seller had reservations about posting them to Spain (where I'm currently based).

A family member who picked them up has told me that royal mail has refuses to send them as they are classed as 'Weapons'.

Any ideas how I can get these over?

I'm a bit staggered by this to say the least, when did shavers become the weapon of choice for bloody thursty murdering psychopaths?

On a lighter note? I can only think of two films where a razor has been used to shave somebody to kill somebody:
Reservoir Dogs
Sweeny todd.

Anybody think of any others?

I have received and posted altogether around 20 razors or so with no problems whatsoever. No idea what the problem is with Royal Mail. Do you have to declare that they are razors? If they reply they are weapons you reply they are grooming tools and if they still refuse you take it higher up. Absolutely ludicrous notion, but then again in the UK anything can be classed as an Offensive Weapon (including a banana if you are planning on injuring someone with it )

When I send a razor to Europe I send it as men's grooming supplies. Never had an issue even going to Spain.

I just received a straight from Sweden and it came no problem. It was marked as a vintage razor on the package.

Never had a problem either sending or receiving.
I have had a package declined by An Post (Irish Postal Service) because of a shave cream :thumbdown
I just used another post office

No problem either sending or receiving. Customs forms usually have them marked as 'shaving razors.'
Royal mail has handled a few of mine as well so not sure why it would be a problem.
Perhaps if they are stated as just 'razors' as opposed to 'shaving razors' it raised some eyebrows (?). Obviously 'shaving razors' is redundant but who the heck knows these days...

Best of luck getting them over to you in Spain.

I've never had a problem, whether sending or receiving. Might just be a dodgy post office or something. (Bloody ridiculous in my view, you're not gonna import knives when you can go to any shop and pick one up)

I mail regularly all over the world. Never had an issue with "weapons" classification.
On the customs form I just list as "vintage razor"

Australia and the UK have about the strictest laws regarding weapons carry and importation in the world. SR's are (for now) OK to import into both countries, so I am pretty confident that Spain should be fine (although you may have to pay duty, which is common in a lot of Euro countries).

I list the item as "grooming supplies" whenever I send a razor abroad.
