Would like to see what you guys and gals have in your collection :001_cool:

What is that middle razor? It is beautiful!!!! The only wood handle shaving accessory I have is my Semogue 2015 HD, but I do love that!

Here are a couple of pics of my Thater 4292/4 2-band in cocobolo wood. The nominal size is 24mm x 56mm; this one is 26mm x 57mm. Unlike every other Thater I have owned (and I have had several), this one actually has a bit of scritch.

Bob, beautiful brush - and you know what - this once again lets me to believe that Thäter and Shavemac get some of their handle from the same source, because your Cocobolo wood handle looks exactly like the one from Shavemac !

I love wood too - a lot :biggrin1:

First my wooden badgers: SOC 2-band in cherry and ash, Thäter in Bruyére, Semogue 2015HD in oak and Vie-Long in Olive wood.

Next my wooden boars: Semogue 2009 LE in cherry, SOC in cherry and ash, Semogue 1250 in oak, Semogue 1800 in beech, Semogue 2000 in beech and vintage Victoria in what I believe to be beech.

Excellent collection, Søren :thumbup1:

Is the Vie Long in 3-Band Silvertip or 2-Band ?
Looks like a 2-Bander to me - how do you like that Vie Long brush ?

It's a 3-band, and it was named White badger - whatever that mean? But it seems to have disappeared from Giftsandcare's website.
I really like, it is quite a big knot (for me) and I think mostly suited for creams, although it handle soaps very well with a little patience upon loading.

I have a 2-band with the red/white acrylic handle, but it is the most scrubbiest 2-band I have ever tried. It feels almost like a pure badger, although a good soaking in hair conditioner have softened it up.
I don't think I will get another Vie-Long 2-band, they are too scrubby for me, but I wouldn't mind another 3-band Silvertip with an olive wood handle.

How would you compare the Vie Long 2-Band brush to the Semogue LE2011 Finest badger 2 2-band regarding how scrubby it feels ?
To me, my Semogue LE2011 Finest Badger 2 is the second most scrubby brush I own, only trumped by my Shavemac D01 2-band 24/48 brush.
Not sure I want anything as scrubby as that - how ld is the Vie Long 2-Bander you own ? (Maybe they have gotten a softer batch of hair since that, it tends to vary a bit from season to season)

Thanks.

I had this potato looking piece of wood on my bookshelf for about 10 years.

I only have one but its easily my favorite brush, both in look and face feel. A cocobolo handle custom made for me by a good friend. Stuffed with a 22mm TGN Finest XH knot set at a 48mm loft. Some pre and post bloom pics for ya:

It earned the nickname "The Spider" from look of the grain. You can see it in the first pic very well.

The Vie-Long is much more scrubby than the 2011LE. I would regard it more as a pure badger than a Finest badger - it is very stiff and scrubby.
I was actually a bit disappointed upon arrival, but after checking Giftsandcare's website, they do say it is the thickest hair they use, even thicker than best badger, and my assumption of it being equivalent to Pure badger isn't that far off.
I just anticipated something like the SOC or TGN I already had at that point.

Thanks Søren, I'll skip the Vie Long 2-Band hair version then and go for a 3-Band Silvertip instead
